New video tomorrow, new tracks this week

Hey everyone, I have a new video for you all tomorrow that will showcase how to compose chord progressions in minor keys.

I've decided to expand the genres in which I demonstrate things too, so you'll see some EDM, Metal, Floyd-Rock, and more.

Hopefully this video will show you how easy it is to start writing things that actually sound GOOD, and that all you need to make it sound like a "real song" is surrounding it with the right things.

I did spend time making a track in E minor and I think it'd be good as a jam track for you all since it has one measure of B7 in it. I'll post it soon for you and will include some advice on how to solo along.

THANK YOU!

Hey Carey! If I'm in E Minor, I want E Minor to "feel" like home, so I'll be doing whatever I can to resolve to it. The strongest way to do that is with the V chord which is NOT in the key though. Playing the minor v chord doesn't pull you back to to the minor i at all, so we usually grab that dominant chord outside the key. We can still get resolution to the minor i by going from the bVI to the bVII then to the i, and many other changes will "slightly" resolve to the i, but none will do so as strongly as the V. Hope this helps!

New to your site, and I enjoyed this session. Novice writer who writes mainly in major key. In minor, do you still resolve to the tonic? Which cord gives the most tension to the resolution? I'm used to the 5 resolving to the 1. Thanks
