Pitches wanted (groups, psychoanalysis) | $500 to $800 per article
Added 2025-10-29 02:23:46 +0000 UTCCOMPANY/PUBLICATION: PARAPRAXIS
Parapraxis is an all-volunteer magazine that publishes twice a year in print and semi-frequently on our website.
Print Issues are themed. We are currently closed for submissions for Issue 05: Economies (Winter 2024). We are actively seeking pitches for Issue 08: Groups (Summer/Fall 2026) and for our (un-themed) website, where we do not adhere to any theme. Pieces for web are on rolling deadlines; pieces for Issue 08 would be due in the fall or winter.
The best way to write for us, so the axiom goes, is to read us. You'll see we don't have a house style--far from it--but we do work more in a magazine paradigm than that of an academic journal. We commission in many categories, some of which are pretty standard (book and arts reviews, features, political/social reportage etc) and some of which are our own (like "Clinical Conflict," or, anonymous testimony from analysts and patients).
Print rates vary depending on length from $500-800. Web rates are a flat $500. We are very sorry this is not more.
We largely work from pitches. We do not publish fiction or poetry. If you have an essay already drafted, please still fill out this form and note that below.
If you don't hear from us within three or so weeks from submission, please assume we're not able to work on that particular pitch.
