Call for Balkan pitches!
We’re looking for original, in-depth reporting that sheds light on key issues shaping the region today. We welcome a range of formats – from written features and video to multimedia and data-driven pieces.
WE WELCOME PITCHES FOR:
Reported features (1,000–1,500 words)
Photo essays with captions or short accompanying text
Video or multimedia pieces
Explainers or visual stories that combine reporting with graphics, data, or maps
WHAT WE OFFER:
A flat fee of $250 per accepted story or multimedia piece
Editorial support and collaboration with Transitions’ international team
Publication in English on the Transitions website and promotion via our channels
HOW TO PITCH:
A 2-3 paragraph pitch outlining your story idea, focus, main sources, and format
A short bio (including location)
1-2 samples of previous work
Please send pitches to editorial@tol.org by 28 November 2025.
Stories accepted from this call should be delivered to editors no later than 1 March 2026, as the project concludes at the end of March 2026.
