GGO2 on hold for a week due to hurricane

First thing: I am not in any danger. I live in PA so I won't be affected by the hurricane.

I'm pushing the next round of the GGO2 to next week so that you all can support the people affected by Hurricane Milton. I'm good for another month, and the victims are gonna need it more. I don't want to distract from any of you who wish to help.

Please be on the look out for anyone asking for help. As always you should try to vet anyone you don't know asking for money, however financial aid is the best way to assist victims. Local organizations are better equipped to provide the needed equipment needed to provide victims with what actually assists them. If you cannot provide financial assistance and live in the area then you can volunteer to provide in person assistance after the hurricane passes. However, if you're in an area that's going to be affected: GET OUT NOW.

If you absolutely must send something, these are the things I've looked up that actually help:

• Hygiene products (soap, toothpaste, feminine hygiene, toilet paper, etc.)

• Cleaning supplies (disinfectant wipes, trash bags, paper towels, etc.)

• Baby essentials (diapers, baby wipes, formula, etc.)

• Flashlights & batteries

Clothes and other miscellaneous items generally just end up taking up space in warehouses and the logistics distract aid workers from provided much needed in person assistance. This is not an opportunity to dump your unwanted junk, there are better places to send that.

Providing shelter is another great way to help out. Providing temporary space for friends and/or family will free up much needed space in shelters for people who don't have that option.

Again: Be careful sending money to anyone you're unfamiliar with. I'm not saying not to do it, I'm saying vet everyone. Unfortunately, disasters attract scammers like flies to shit.

The red cross is taking blood donations as well. This is another great way for you to help if you can't assist financially. Plus they're giving $10 amazon gift cards to donors, which is nice.
