Patreon newsletter #15

Dear Patrons,

Welcome to newsletter #15! Here's your regular roundup of production news and updates, with not one but TWO imminent new releases for Patreon supporters...

Production Updates

Voices of the Peninsular War (ETA 1 week)

This video is our first major focus on eyewitness accounts (aka primary sources) from the Napoleonic Wars, although of course they've always played a role in our videos. We've got a range of great characters describing some terrifying moments, from the breaches of Badajoz to the war against partisans. We're adding the final touches next week...

Marengo Part 2 (ETA 1 week)

The dramatic conclusion to Napoleon's famous Marengo campaign is also coming to Patreon next week. Here are some of the latest screenshots from the PMF team to whet your appetite...

Other Projects

Work continues on the next episode of Nelson's Battles in 3D - the Battle of Trafalgar! I hope to have some first shots to share with you soon. Production on our major WW2 series will kick off properly next month. And stay tuned for announcements of further major projects in the months ahead...

One Cool History Thing

More of a production cool thing really, but as I know a lot of you take a keen interest in our music sources and choices, I thought you might be interested in this...

Epic History was one of the first YouTube channels to work with Filmstro - a great music library set up by Seb Jaeger c.2016. It was very much the theme music of our Napoleonic Wars series. In recognition of this, Seb has just composed a new Filmstro track, called... 'Napoleon'!

It's a banger, and you can expect to hear it in some upcoming videos. You can get a preview over at the Filmstro site.

That's all for now - we'll be back next week with new videos!

Comments

As part of a War of 1812 series, yes. We offered it as an option in a couple of recent polls, but it narrowly lost out. It will probably be an option again at some point in future, but we have some big series in production atm.

Epic History

Thank you for your response. After reading Black Redcoats by Matthew Taylor, would you consider doing Bladensburg and the Burning of Washington

Geraint Thatcher

Yes, we're doing that after the American Revolution series.

Epic History

We would consider it, but other priorities at the moment.

Epic History

I look forward Marengo too. Will you make any revised remastered longer more extended version of Waterloo Campaign ?

CAN MERDİOGLU

Will you consider doing a video on Wellingtons Campaigns in India ?

Geraint Thatcher

I would love to see some quotes from Jacob Walter further down the line if this becomes a mini series :)

Martin Andersson

Thank You Toby! Appreciate the support even if these ideas never manifest. You & Your Team make incredible works. Been thanking You since day 1 of the Patreon campaign & will continue to fight with You in the trench's of YouTube 💪🏼 much love & continued fealty Lord John 💚🇭🇺🇩🇪

John Fekete

Perhaps - in due time! A big epic on Rome is definitely something I'd like to take on.

Epic History

Just out of curiosity do you have in mind a series about the roman empire starting from romulus till the end or about the rashidun caliphate and its lifespan given the abbasid and belisarius videos did so well

The Imperialist

Thanks for the ideas, John!

Epic History

Thank you, suggestion noted!

Epic History

Amazing job guys and kudos to all the production team I already know the the next videos are gonna be bangers also newsletter 1 of asking of a through and through ottoman series thank you.

The Imperialist

Fantastic new I love watching these videos so good and I jus wanna say you do a great job and keep up the good work 👍 can't wait to watch them all

dylan peltier

Undeniably! You have all proven beyond doubt you are prepared to go the nine yards for both quality and the extra hook. As i said just my opinion on a new angle that might add that extra sucker punch of quality. Even the most novice VA can be made to sound like a veteran VO artist given the right tweaks.

shrubby1989

It's a very interesting idea, although I think it would be quite a tricky process. I think we would get a lot of applications, and the quality would be quite uneven!

Epic History

To be honest it would be great to see a documentary on Frances Generals Calvary commanders gents who were not elevated to status of Marshal of the Empire but still known for being badass in their own unique ways, Just an idea. & Perhaps still a chance of a medical treatment documentary could pay homage to Marshal Besserieres Father & other phenomenal surgeons of the time. A Biography section from Epic History Tv would be incredible! Picture Charles narrating an entire documentary/bio on Eric Ludendorf 💚 the possibilities My fellow History lovers think of the grand possibilities!

John Fekete

Yes voice actors and haha nothing or no onr so prestigious no, but if i WAS to suggest someone with some star power id suggest the original Rifleman Harris, Jason Salkey! I was more suggesting diving into the mountain of supporters you currently command, as more than a few would have families stretching as far back as the Peninsular War, and itd be the most fitting tribute to them all in my opinion. Though i am only one voice and i might be alone in this approach

shrubby1989

Hey Everyone apologies for not posting immediate comments like I have always done. Work & Life have been harrying Me every step of the way. Thrilled to leave a comment the news letters 60sec history Marengo itself badass ready for part 2 & Trafalgar! & Now after reading a small snippet of what is to come with Voices of The Peninsula War awesome yet horrifying have to ask will there be other documentaries on personal accounts from other world confilcts? Ww1? American War Of Independence & Civil War? An invasion of russia eye witness account would be dope actually The Battle Of The Nations probably has some wickedly terrifying personal accounts. Excited to see the future of this awesome channel thanks again for everything much love & continued fealty Lord John 💚

John Fekete

Thank you Medin. I think we've been inspiring other history channels for quite a few years now! It's nice when they acknowledge this in the credits, as some do.

Epic History

VA = voice actors? Feel free to suggest names! But if you're thinking of suggesting Sean Bean for Rifleman Harris, etc, he may be beyond our budget...

Epic History

Fantastic news! Really looking forward to Marengo! Epic History has truly set the gold modern standard of quality for history documentaries - to such an impact that many other history channels on YouTube are starting to use a similar style of animation. However, Epic History is truly the only channel where detail, voice acting, and quality are all well bundled phenomenally! Happy to continue supporting. Thanks for the Newsletter!

Medin Burnic

Is there an option to put names forward for VA for these "Voices" series? I say series because i doubt this will be the only one!

shrubby1989

*doffs cap, fixes bayonets*

Epic History

Yes, after the American Revolution

Epic History

Looking forward for next week! It looks really promising! Thanks for keeping us up to date

Richard Fernandes

Can't wait for Marengo part two gunna be good

dylan peltier

“As for you Epic History, I say only - act as you always do”

Mick Ballest

Next year we expect Napoleon's return from Elba and the hundred days in 1815?

Попов Михаил

I hope that music might make an appearance in the Marengo video very cool. Can’t wait for Trafalgar, must be many orders of magnitude harder than the Nile with more than double the ships to animate so take your time. Glad to see the series has done very well so far so definitely worth all those graphics 🫡

Stuart Carver

Keep up the great work!

Andrew Herbst

Been looking forward to Marengo for years!

Thomas P

Excited to see the WW2 content! I love the Napoleon series but glad to see your move towards this war, especially after the work you put into the first World War series!

Andrew Ward

Guess next week is going to be an epic week!

TankerBricks

My god I am dying for this can't wait!
