WYRM psychics saw that he would be a massive threat in the wars to come so they attempted to remove him from the equation before he awakened. The heat of the dragonfire turned swords into molten armor that fused to Lambton's body. His strong soul refused to leave his charred bones and he still roams the dungeons looking for lizards to rend.
