July Purge and Patreon Q+A!

Hi all, I don't know about you but I've been having the shittiest month I've had in a LOOOOONG time.
And it's only the 8th!

So as a means of celebrating, I thought I'd help move the channel in the right direction with a small purge of some of the videos I've grown to dislike over time, and I think it's time to do that Patreon Q&A I keep mentioning.

So first, the videos that I'm unlisting from the public eye:

Why Soundtracks aren't Taken Seriously
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8O7DSkKe_4
This one should be obvious, but I don't really think I articulated my point very well by the end of the video.  Like, yes Hollywood has a big problem with plagiarism via using temp tracks among other issues, but I really don't think I explained why and how self-plagiarism is such a big issue?
Also, I just can't handle the Undertale comments anymore, it's just such a toxic notification every time I see it in my inbox and, just, all in all I think that if we're going to have that conversation, it's worth having it in a more positive light.
So I might revisit the topic at a later date, I don't know, we'll see.

How to Transform a Leitmotif
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itMJ-fUPXqE
So I know it seems strange for me to take this one down considering how much I rave about Robin Hood and loving the film, but the truth is that thematic transformation and leitmotif are technically two different things that don't really coincide, sorta?
Thematic transformation is something that really gets reserved for Liszt's Symphonic Poems from what I've read, and a leitmotif almost can't be a leitmotif unless it changes with the narrative...It's tough to explain and I'm going to try to visit it in the video I have planned for Infinity War as soon as that comes out on Blu-Ray, but as of right now this video kinda feels like it misses the point.
Like, it's not enough to just change a leitmotif, it has to change in a specific way for a specific reason because of the narrative, sorta, and, well, hopefully I can get to that at a later date.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Legacy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGVqPP-52No
I'm just so tired of the infamous jokes, I get it, I messed up, but I just can't handle them anymore.
I like this video, I think Giacchino did a fantastic job with the film, and I thought I'd be able to deal with little mistakes, but over time no one really talks about the accomplishments of the film, and instead they just make fun of me not knowing what a word means.
I might just re-record this video and upload it again, I'm not sure.

So those are the videos, they aren't getting completely ripped off the internet, they're all unlisted, which means that you can still watch them and show them to your friends so long as you have the link (all of those links should work, I'll check) I just don't think that in the long run those videos are really going to represent my channel in the way I want, or at the very least, make it easier for me to teach people about the almighty leitmotif!

Now as far as the Q&A goes, I'm thinking about trying a video format that I might make a monthly thing, here's what I'm thinking:

Every $20 patron gets a guaranteed question, any question, and I'll do everything I can to answer it (within reason! (please don't be a dick!))
I'll pick from a pool of $10 patron questions up to a maximum of 4.  So if 8 $10 patrons ask me different questions I'll pick 4 of those to answer.
And I'll pick 2 questions from the pool of $5 patrons.

I'll just make a big unedited video like I did for the 100k sub special and answer them to the best of my ability at the end of the month, and if you guys like it, then I'll see if we can make it a monthly thing.
It feels like other youtubers have monthly Q&A videos, so why not us too right?  Give me your questions in the comments section below.

This month has sucked, my life kinda got little derailed there, let's try to make this all better.

Thank you all for your continued support.

I literally cannot do this without you.

Comments

With some of those videos, do you think you will remake them with corrections? Also what non-movie (game, tv show, etc.) soundtrack is your favorite?

What kind of game would best fit having leitmotifs, or is it possible to use them in any type of game?
