Lapped cars supposed to unlap themselves, they weren’t able to until the 2nd last lap because marshalls were still on the track. The timing was down to when the crash can be cleaned up. The problem is that the fia didn’t think it would be cleaned up in time. The marshalls clearing the track right before the last lap is what allowed those cars between max and lewis to pass. Communication was terrible but they still followed the procedure they normally do. Go back and watch imola Noel. Lewis’ race had nothing to do with it lmao. The teams even agreed prior to the race that it should end in a green flag. Idk why no one acknowledged that it the lapped cars would have been allowed through no matter the scenario *after the track has been cleared*. Same thing would have happened if it was the other way around. Lewis literally would’ve lost the championship in Imola if he didn’t overtake during the safety car and finish 2nd.
