A Glamorous Evening
Added 2022-11-27 19:11:22 +0000 UTCHere's a little video I made of my evening at the Dawnridge Estate to celebrate Hutton Wilkinson, Tony Duquette's design partner.
My last lingerie campaign shoot was photographed here, I think I posted those photos a while back, but I lose track.
It was a fancy dress party, the theme was South American style, so I put this look together in the spirit of the film Down Argentine Way. Honestly, I didn't put a lot into it... with theme parties, and that goes for my own theme parties too, I just kind of pilfer my wardrobe a few hours before and see what happens. I have a lot of costume-y things, so it's not usually difficult for me.
Tonight I wore a chartreuse blouse my seamstress made with a 1940s pattern, a long skirt also made from a 40s pattern, a spanish hat I bought in an antique shop in Bordeaux from a very grouchy shop clerk (he didn't like that I tried it on π) I didn't NEED it since I have about five or six of these, but I often buy them as souvenirs of a trip. I'm wearing a Marc Jacobs sash belt I've had since the early 2000s, and a Chanel necklace I got years ago from my friend who designed all the costume jewelry. The retro 40s bracelet was a gift from Linda Ramone. I also have another 40s brooch on my belt. And lastly, a 1940s handbag a few of my friends gave me for my birthday. I wish I could show the details but I don't have someone following me around documenting, I just did this little video myself.πΉ
(Clearly with a theme such as this, I witnessed a bit of cultural appropriation, but most people were stylishly tributing the theme. It is interesting to think of what it constitutes, but the general rule of thumb is appropriating/mocking marginalized people, or wearing sacred dress...however, the Pope, for instance, is considered fair game)
