You two always cover what’s going in the world by giving the context to a situation and then stating your own opinion on it. But that wasn’t the case today. If you guys truly want to understand what’s going on with the Ukraine crisis, I implore you to watch this recorded lecture from 6 years ago that gives a pretty unbiased view. https://youtu.be/JrMiSQAGOS4 It’s easy to fall victim to what the media feeds you and develop an opinion on something without being fully educated on it, we’ve all done it before. But it’s important to realize when you have a biased take so you can put yourself in the other side’s shoes to make progress towards resolve. Ukraine and their president are not some kind of heroes standing up for independence and democracy, they’re fighting a losing battle that’s the result of the west. The Ukrainian president is an actor, and he’s selling his act perfectly. The man isn’t a hero or a beacon of hope for democracy and freedom, he’s being used as a political puppet for the west to try and attack Russia, while using Ukraine to fight that battle for them. Nobody is helping Ukraine here. Sending weapons and donations doesn’t do anything. Do you really think a single dollar that’s being donated will actually help the people being impacted? Hell no, Ukraine is one of the most corrupt nations in the world. 99% of this money being donated will land in the pockets of the already corrupt and rich in Ukraine, it won’t help a single struggling or impacted family. No amount of weapons will stop Russia’s military. Countless lives are being lost for a cause that doesn’t even exist. These words of democracy and fighting for freedom that keep being thrown around aren’t actually what’s going on. Don’t get me wrong, Russia isn’t justified in their actions either, and this crisis is completely unnecessary, but Russia isn’t INVADING Ukraine. It’s a very poor choice of words. An invasion insinuates wanting to claim whatever it is you’re invading. Russia doesn’t want Ukraine, it never has. The Ukrainian people are of their own sovereignty and Russia respects that. Why would they try to liberate a nation that wants nothing to do with them? They would be fighting a losing battle that wouldn’t end until either every native Ukrainian has fled the country or died fighting for it. From the beginning of this crisis and for the past decade, Russia has made it very clear that it simply wants Ukraine to be neutral and act as a buffer state between the west and Russia, but nobody has respected their legitimate security concerns and the west has effectively forced Putin’s hand. So if Putin can’t have his wishes respected, he has to resort to what humanity has done since the beginning of time. Fight for what he wants. At the end of the day, this crisis is not going to affect any of these powerful leaders or the rich, it will only affect the people that can’t control it. The everyday citizens. And the media pushing the glamorization of this crisis and wanting a full scale world war to erupt is evidence of this horrifying reality we live in. We shouldn’t fight or go to war because none of the people who start it bear the effects of it. This lesson is something that’s understood very well by anyone that’s been impacted by a military crisis from unstable nations around the world. But it’s a lesson that we Americans have had the privilege of not having to learn because we’ve always been safe and prosperous as a nation at the end of the day. It’s a lesson that I learned from both of my immigrant parents who gave me the privilege of being able to be born an American and reap the benefits pursuing the “American Dream”. But in typical American fashion, we’re doing everything we can to profit from this crisis and avoid any blame. We did the same thing in Palestine, Syria, Lybia, Iraq, Afghanistan and COUNTLESS other nations. Other nations bear the costs for our American leisure and freedom. TLDR: this whole crisis is not Ukraine’s or Russia’s fault, it’s actually the fault of the US, NATO, and the EU. Noel and especially Cody, since you’re donating money to something you don’t fully understand, I hope you can see this point of view so you don’t give the viewers of this amazing show horrible takes like you did today.

Yeah, don’t really feel like listening to this, lotta respect for you guys as comics and creators and I don’t really expect you guys to be experts in foreign policy or affairs, but it just comes off as kinda boring and almost annoyingly trite to hear someone list off the US media and government talking points on this conflict. And before any assumptions are made, no I don’t support the full scale invasion taking place, it’s just that the issue is more complicated than “Putin is an evil villain” and it’s really exhausting having to hear people who first heard about Donetsk and Luhansk two weeks ago talk like they have even the vaguest of ideas about relations between the Slavic states.
