Acting like “Godzilla vs Kong” is the only kind of movie that “does well” is extremely reductive and ultimately untrue. Like yes the movies with big explosions are ones that a lot of people go to and it has been that way for a long time, but plenty of smaller budget movies turn large profits because of a dedicated, rabid fanbase for the art form that will always show up. “Uncut Gems” and many of A24’s films make a lot of money because they are high quality. Maybe a bunch of ten year olds didn’t watch it, but many people did. Even larger budget films that are filled with craft like “Once Upon a time in Hollywood” make a lot of money because people know Tarantino makes good movies. People don’t want one form of entertainment, they want many different forms of entertainment. Enjoying tiktoks and podcasts and dumb movies and good movies are not mutually exclusive.

Tbh I get so excited when you guys start talking about the future of media. I'm not involved in the industry but I love to think about it and your perspective is so unique and interesting. You could make a whole podcast just about that and it's probably become my favorite thing to listen to

I got into DnD a few years ago. 5th edition is the most recent edition and it's made to be more accessible to more people. It still is kind of hard to get the hang of at first because there is a flow to the game that takes time to memorize. The appealing part of DnD is the fact you have a dungeon master because they are going to dictate the style of the game. Some games are super goofy and it is basically just an improv session. Then you have games that are super serious. Cody brought up tournaments a lot so I think I doesnt quite get the structure of it. Think of it like a cooperative video game that you play with your friends but instead of a simulated digital world and rules dictated by a computer you have a world made by the Dungeon Master. In a lot of cases the game has strayed away from running around in dungeons it is usually set in an open world where you can go to whatever town or mountain or whatever. The benefit of the DM over a video game is that you can ask a question that the game designer didn't intend and potentially do it. So in Skyrim say you run into a quest line with a goofball who has something you want. You would have to go through whatever programmed options there are in the game to get said object. In DnD you could ask the DM something like "Can I amuse this goofball with some sick vape tricks off my pipe to persuade him to give me the object" to which the DM would say roll the dice to see how well you do and find out. Sorry if this is a bit long winded but if you guys do read this I hope it helps because I know the game is a bit abstract if you have no experience with it.
