Essay about Gen Z that no one asked for: people copying stuff from the past has always existed (every 20 years trends come back) but I think cause of the internet giving kids more access to the past it's accelerated massively. My parents said back when they were kids (the 70s) there was a huge wave of 50s stuff like fashion and dancing -- it came from movies like American Graffiti, Grease, Dirty Dancing. But if you think about it those movies were directed by folks who grew up in the 50s reminiscing about their childhood. So making a movie based on your childhood was the only real way to bring back an old era for the younger generation. Nowadays you can just search the shit up online so kids ripping off old styles and thinking they discovered something new is just par for the course. Does that even make sense? idk
