im nerding out. homo sapiens have existed for like 300k years, 6 million is just when we diverged from our common ancestor with the chimps. so it's really like no time at all. you should watch pbs eons on youtube, I learned a lot from that channel.moving to a more habitable planet sounds risky because after a few million years we will have adapted genetically to it, and if we need to move again we'll be too weak to move anywhere else less habitable, so we need to save the good planets for emergencies. also I agree focusing on when the sun explodes is completely useless. that's in several billion years at which point humans won't exist (because of evolution) and our descendant line most likely will have been extinct. And if not, there are other things we should worry about. For example, we know when the sun will explode, but we don't know when the next devastating meteor will hit. one like the one that killed the dinosaurs hits earth on average every 100 million years and it will kill all humans. we should develop technology to stop meteors like that because that might happen at any time and not in billions of years. lastly, the effort we'd have to put in to move to and settle on a more inhabitable planet is far more than the effort to just improve our conditions here. i guess it's just good to know they're there but that's a problem for like our great great great grandchild species to bother with once the sun finally will explode. ok sorry about this comment
