hey! just a quick note to say that the behavior you described isn't gaslighting; gaslighting is a very specific term which describes an extremely specific form of emotional abuse wherein an abuser will (at least attempt to) make a victim doubt their sense of reality. whether that be by claiming repeatedly that the victim did something they didn't do, by claiming the abuser didn't do something they actually did, or any number of other ways, the point is legitimately making the victim question their own sanity. the behavior you described is certainly emotional manipulation, and probably emotional abuse, but it's not gaslighting. sorry to get all serious in the comments of a comedy podcast, especially when it was such a throwaway comment, but unfortunately the term being introduced to the mainstream vernacular in the past few years has really watered down the meaning, which makes it harder for victims of gaslighting to relay how serious their situation is or even reach out for and receive help. this isn't meant to be an attack or a demand for an acknowledgement/apology, and if it comes off like it is then i'd like to apologize for that. this is just something that is very personally significant for me, and since i know your misuse of the term wasn't an active choice, i thought you may be receptive to hearing this. anyways. gonna stop this before i end up writing a whole essay but thanks for all you do, and if you do read this block of text then thank you for that, too!
