Benzos are one of, if not the most PHYSICALLY dependent drugs. Along with alcohol and opiates. Benzos is also one of the only drugs that can kill you from the detox, seizures, violent throwing up, shaking and sweating all leading to possible cardiac arrest or even brain conditions from the seizures. Most drugs you can get off without doctor supervision, though wouldn't be recommended. But with benzos you desperately need someone to watch over you, and medicate you properly. So I wouldn't say the coma was a good idea, but I could also see where the idea came from. It may not be about curing the mental cravings and mental addictions but it will definitely save your life. I suppose the users health state is besides the addiction would play a major role as well. Anyway just my 2 cents

Unfortunately Anesthesia Assisted Rapid Detox is used pretty often as a means to get through withdrawals, for rich and famous ppl. It's absolutely dangerous, even when done by the best medical professionals. And obviously risk for relapse is higher bc they basically napped thru WDs and don't have much of a reason to not get high again eventually. But yeah, anyone saying there's no physiological aspect to addictions is completely ignorant. Not all addictions cause physiological dependence, but more than half the commonly abused substances do.

I want to offer some quick two cents here on JP’s benzo story. If he had akathisia as a side effect, I honestly feel bad for the guy. Years ago I developed akathisia while taking a med and it was the worst thing I have ever experienced. As much as I deeply dislike JP, I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. Benzo withdrawal can be brutal and I don’t blame him for trying to find a way out of that, but it is incredibly irresponsible and dangerous for doctors to put a patient into a coma to get through detox. Not only is there a psychological dependency that doesn’t magically disappear after detox, it can cause irreversible brain damage and could’ve killed him. Though I appreciate him sharing his story because it helps to show that no matter where you are in your life you could always develop an addiction. And whoever claims that there’s no physiological dependency with addiction can eat cock.

As somebody who was addicted to Benzodiazepines for over two years I can say full well Jordan is either lying about his treatment or he overreacted. I was a heavy user with a prescription so I needed to go to a hospital to ween off the drug, but never did I come close to a coma and I found all the care I needed here in America. It took me 7 days and I was on my way. Also he’s a right wing grifter who transphobic, homophobic, and racist hiding behind the guise of being a role model.
