Idk if the OD vid was just a sketch or not, some ppl are saying it is, but either way, just a heads up: for someone who regularly uses heroin/opiates, enough to develop a physical dependency, getting hit with Narcan is an incredibly painful, horrible, terrifying experience. It essentially throws the user into something called "precipitated withdrawals", which is basically a exacerbated and incredibly immediate/intense form of drug withdrawals. People are known to wake up in a panic or rage, uncontrollably shit/piss their pants, puke, have trouble breathing, sweat profusely, shake, etc. Not a fun experience. Obviously better than ODing but it's good to know this and be prepared before hitting someone with narcan!

I think the problem with the commentary genre is that some people (viewers and youtubers) don't have the empathy, critical thinking skills, or self-awareness to realize the difference between comedy/criticism and hatred/harassment. For them it's about glorifying the drama, pushing buttons, getting attention, and putting others down to make themselves feel more important. These are the same people who leave hate comments (NOT critical comments) on the videos of people you have roasted. They think that being hateful and cruel is an equivalent to comedy when the craft has so much more nuance than that. They take low-effort, stale, and/or bigoted jabs because they're too lazy to come up with good jokes. They look for any way to feed the drama because they do not understand that criticism isn't about stepping on others to make yourself feel better; it's about giving the audience a different way to look at the content and it's about expecting improvment. They don't care about the comedy or the criticism; they care about the drama. They don't want to laugh with you; they want to laugh at someone else. They don't want things to improve or change; they want to feed the machine so they can keep feeling smarter, funnier, more talented, more skilled, more HUMAN than others. It's infuriating because both criticism and comedy (and their intertwined relationship) have value that gets discredited because of these people. We all like a little drama, but we shouldn't feed the cycle as much as we do.
