I went to school with a girl who said “um” so often between words for no reason and I always thought why not just take a damn second to think about the next word without feeling the need to fill the space with a dumb noise? I made it a point to not use it after that, but then I’d take that second to think instead of say um and people would interrupt me before my sentence was done with “what???” So 🤷🏽‍♀️ Don’t feel so bad Noel, um might just exist for a reason. Or it’s dumb and so are people that interrupt a half finished thought, I can’t tell
