I think this episode more than any other sealed the decision to cancel the series. Only a handful of good episodes in season 7 as too many writers had been pulled to DS9.

You joked about it with Tawny but in your latest episode with Kate Mulgrew, she didnโt know anything about it. Did explaining it to her bring back all those memories? Gates: No, I think itโs just fun. Whatโs great is how my evolution on the episode has been. Because I do now think itโs hilarious. And thatโs great, why not think itโs hilarious instead of being concerned? Itโs turned out to be this cult thing. You know, you just have to laugh at yourself and laugh at whatโs gone on and I just canโt get upset by something like that. So it was fun to explain it to her. And she laughed. I mean, itโs funny. So why wouldnโt anybody? Itโs crazy.
