Reacting to I'm Not That Girl from the Wicked Movie (Cynthia Erivo is from another planet!!!!)

Goooood evening beautiful people,

I am struggling today with a tooth infection this week and currently look like I could be cast as a Who in a remake of the grinch so instead of trying to film a video in this state I decided to bring you this little ditty I filmed earlier in the week.

Seeing as my video breaking down Joe Locke singing in Sweeney Todd was so popular I've decided to do the same for the Wicked movie because I am OBSESSED!

Let me know in the comments below if you want to see more videos like this!

Love, always ♥️

I find that I felt more of a connection with this song and it stands out more in the film version, i suppose because you get the close up emotional intent that might get lost on stage. Also we have the tour at the theatre where I work atm so it's Wicked full on atm.

I haven’t seen the play and I can’t see the movie until it’s on streaming, but I love the soundtrack and I appreciate that you didn’t have spoilers

Amazing video Jackie. Your knowledge, experience, stories, singing, passion, enthusiasm and joy make this amongst your top videos for me. Up there with your short film and Heartstopper reactions.

I’m one of the ones who is not seen the film yet, but then again, I haven’t been in a movie theater since pre-Covid, so that tells you something. I mostly know Wicked through the original cast recording, since I’ve never seen a production of it, nor have I ever read the book on which it is based. But so much is being said about this film that I think it will be the one that finally gets me back into a movie theater. It does seem to me that the things that this version of the song does things that would be harder to make work in a big Broadway theatre because they are subtler and quieter in a way that doesn’t carry on a live stage. And she absolutely has a very expressive voice that brings out the range of emotions in this particular ballad. As everyone else says, it’s wonderful to see your investment in the song and how viscerally you respond to it.

As you know, I was not at all taken by this film...I most certainly did not see it multiple times, nor did I cry through each viewing... I am so glad you made this video and you know I would happily watch you breaking down any vocal performance video... As I told you previously, I have found myself preferring Cynthia's Elphie to Idina's. There is just so much more emotion in it and that is the benefit of a movie, where they can take their time and get the everything exactly as they want it, and you don't have that option in a live show. I can find no fault in this song, and didn't know that there are times when it ends on a higher note, and I cannot imagine that, the low note fits it so perfectly. You were not as handsy as you were in Joe's video, but that is ok. I did notice that in this and that one, when a part really gets you, you kind of flop back in your chair, as if completely overcome with emotion... Thank you for this, and I hope you are feeling better!

Of course we want moooore 🤭 So sorry for you, lots of hugs 🤗 And Cynthia, OMG, I'm also obsessed. Reading and watching all interviews 😇 And personally, this song touches me deeply, I have always felt inadequate, not enough, omg...

Also I'll add, I love hearing you break down songs with your knowledge of the technical. It helps me better understand why they touch me so much as well. Can't wait for the rest! (and then for all of part 2 next year!! 🥹🎉)

I agree on the rifs You hire Cynthia and Ari bc they can act and embody the characters... But ALSO THEIR SINGING. Let them do what they feel best conveys the emotions and story telling. No complaints!

Michael D

It's my favorite as well and one that I identify with so very much.

I have to go see it for the third time now, thanks😂 i wish there will be sing along showings here aswell. It would be a different experience i think🙏🏻
