News Update: Progress on Part 4 and Chapter 2 Details!

So we wanted to give a bit of an update on current status of Cyber Rift, as well as mention some pretty solid progress we've been making as we come closer to the release of Part 4. We've actually been focused on trying to bring in more resources for Chapter 2 while we're still working on the majority of Part 4, and we wanted to go in some detail on why that'll be needed. Basically we wanted to improve the overall way the game is played, so we're aiming to change up the gameplay and have a proper character with movement in the scene. This will take a fair bit of effort, but we're hoping it'll make Chapter 2 feel like a pretty big expansion on Cyber Rift. However we realized the scope would require assistance from a few different sources that we'll be going into detail on once Part 4 is fully finished.

The Syndicate arrives to Cyberia!

Chapter 1 Part 4 will be taking off immediately at the end of Part 3 with the arrival of the Syndicate and the immediate danger that'll bring towards our main cast. It will be a similarly sized update to Part 3, but this one will be focused on the setup for the next major section of the game. The gang will be working together to deal with this new threat in preparation, and we'll finally be making their way towards a planet that we've been wanting to introduce from the beginning of the reboot. Those who've played the originally RenPy version of Cyber Rift will remember the name Fortuna, but we're going to be doing a dramatic twist on it.

Small preview on a new NSFW scene for Part 4!

Chapter 2 Part 1 will be the biggest update Cyber Rift has ever had (besides the reboot) and it will be focused on improving every aspect of the game. We'll be adding proper movement into the game (we'll do a poll soon to check if you guys would prefer simple point and click or WASD movement) and add larger environments to explore. It will also feature several new backgrounds and we're going to be frontloading the update more than we've done in the past. This means we'll be getting the majority of the backgrounds for all of Chapter 2 done upfront instead of paced out per update. This'll make future content on the world easier for the artists to focus on NSFW scenes, and we're hoping players will enjoy seeing a bunch of new areas immediately. We're aiming for 5-7 new backgrounds so it'll be a pretty big addition to our universe!

We still have a lot of work to do towards the next few updates, and once we get some more work done we'll be excited to show off what we've been cooking up! We're also going to be doing another round of bugfixes for Part 3 before we release Part 4, so keep an eye out for that hopefully soon!
