A LIL UPDATE

Hello, there! Matt here!

Thanks for your patience, and really sorry that it's been such a while since the last update - I've been in a bit of a transition period, and things have been taking a lot longer than expected. I'd been putting it off until I had more to show, but felt I should offer a little update today. First up - some bigger news: after giving it a bunch of thought, Quinns has decided that he's done with talking about videogames for now, and will be stepping away from Cool Ghosts in the future.

So first up, I've known about this for a little while - he's struggled with his enthusiasm for the medium at large, and didn't have the same interest as I did in taking really deep-dives into bonkers comedy world-building and high-end production. While he'll obviously be missed in the videos in the future, I think it's definitely for the best for both him and the show that he doesn't continue to try and produce work for something he's been unsure of for a long time. Most of what the show *is* comes from me, so understandably it's not been such a big deal for him to step away from it.

And that's the second part of the update, really: Cool Ghosts to date has pretty much been a heavily-refined gloopy dose of ME, sometimes for the better, but frequently for the worse. I've talked in the past about how my singular, fairly fragile vision for what I wanted it to BE came from a period of pretty serious depression, and following on in the footsteps of what was originally carved in that state has been hard.

More than that, though, it's taken a very long time for that depression to truly - speaking in medical terms - "fuck off". Thankfully now I really think it has, and my perspective over the last six months has transmuted in ways I couldn't have expected.

I still want Cool Ghosts to be a reflection of my ideas and ideals, but I'm trying to step back in terms of ultimate control. Episode 4 will feature beautiful footage (some captured, some creatured) by very talented people who I've been paying as contributers. It will feature a wonderful guest as a co-host, a hugely funny man I haven't worked with seriously for a long time. I want 2020 to be the year that I actually make this damned thing *happen*, opening up to collaboration and teamwork and doing a better job of managing my workload so I can actually give it all the love it deserves.

In the past - again, I've talked about it a bunch - the stumbling blocks for me have been my health, but right now it's simply a case of logistics. Things have been frustrating on that front, but I *am* getting there. I'd naively hoped we'd be up and rolling with things already, but I've had a serious of chats with potential new long-term contributers that for unavoidable reasons have simply fallen through. Talented people are busy, it turns out, but even if seems I'm simply unable to find someone of the caliber I'd want to collaborate with, I'm pushing towards systems that will allow me to make nice things more often - even if that does mean the episodic format doesn't continue to exist forever.

Anyway! I wish I had more to share at this moment, and again - thanks to those of you who've patiently waited once again. It's taken a while to get myself into gear, but I'm excited to be in a position where systems will soon be in place that will allow me the time I need to finish off Episode 4. After that, maybe I'll call it a day - but I'll keep looking, and fingers crossed I'll find the help that I need.

Thanks again!

Matt
