Chapter 3: Incursion
Mission alert!
It all came out of nowhere and during the first couple of hours on the first day officially working for Trix and Quentin.
None of the three ladies expected their first official mission to be happening so soon, but it was exactly what it came to be.
Cynthia, Nene, and Slice were all called to the bureau, and they suited up into their respective skin-tight outfits, which were both needed for them to protect themselves during dangerous missions and to represent this small organization they were now working for.
This organization was now officially named…
D. I. N. O.
Which would stand for District Investigative Night Operation.
D. I. N. O. for short.
Once the three members of the team were fully and beautifully suited up, they were all dispatched for their first mission together.
They weren’t briefed too much about what they were going to have to do during their mission ahead of their departure, that was because they were going to be told on the way there.
“So, what is this mission all about, boss?” Cynthia asked Trix.
“It’s Protea. She came back.”

The three detectives arrived on the scene as soon as it was possible.
The vehicle that brought them all the way there was a black van, and it was driven by no other than Quentin.
“Be careful out there, ladies. Protea escaped, and she won’t be willing to go back to jail, so you can imagine how she’s going to feel about the three of you,” Quentin said after turning around, so he could look at the girls in the backseat.
“Right. Here we go,” Cynthia was the first one to step out of the vehicle after arriving.
“Hey, wait for us, Cyn!” Nene shouted.
“Thanks, Quentin!” Slice was the only one to take the time to wave and smile at him before stepping out of the van.
Protea, who had been originally spotted in the botanic district of the city, which just happened to be the poorest region of the city, was found in time.
Cynthia was the first one to lay her eyes on her.
“Protea!” Cynthia certainly didn’t go with the tactical way, since she simply went ahead and shouted her name out loud as soon as she saw her, even if she was still pretty far from her down the dark street.
Hearing her name, Protea froze for a second, then, she looked back at Cynthia, and it didn’t take long for her to bolt!
Protea started running as fast as she could, and Cynthia had to chase her into an alley.
“Hey! No! Freeze! Freeze!”
It was too late, she was already off, and Cynthia went after her.
“Cyn? You found her?” Nene finally managed to catch up with her.
“Cynthia! Wait for us!” Slice caught up with her, as well.
The last thing Cynthia saw of Protea was her penetrating into what seemed to be an abandoned house that had many broken windows.
The blue-heart detective came right for her and stepped inside the abandoned house before Nene and Slice could truly catch up with her.
That meant that Cynthia was in there alone with Protea, and she’d be alone with her for a short while before the other joined her inside.
Additionally, there was a lot of chance that they were going to take their time and make sure Protea was not going to come out of there by a window or as a different exit. At least, this was something Cynthia could expect the other girls to be doing, so she was personally fully prepared to take on Protea on her own inside while the others were keeping watch outside. She had no problem with that, at all.
“Come out, come out, wherever you are…” Cynthia felt like she was playing hide and seek with Protea who had just escaped from the prison where she had been held for several months now.
Not finding her yet, Cynthia decided to sit down on an old and dusty couch that had been left in the living room of the abandoned house, where she hunted for the escaped criminal.
Cynthia let out a desperate sigh.
“I’ve got all night, you know? I am in no rush to go after you, but only be aware that you won’t get out of here free,” the blue-haired detective promised her.
She sat down comfortably, and she was not even planning to stand up or leave until Protea came out and showed herself.
“Cynthia… How dare you come after me after what you’ve done…” Protea’s voice was heard for the first time since Cynthia started hunting her down, but she couldn’t see her anywhere. Protea’s voice was booming, and it even echoed inside this abandoned and dusty home.
Where is she? Um… She’s not going to show herself, isn’t she?
“To be honest with you, I’m kind of glad you escaped—I missed you quite a bit,” as always, the blue-haired detective played it with a lot of confidence and coyness.
Suddenly, coming out of the ground under and around the couch she was sitting on, green vines erupted from the earth! They slowly and seductively moved through the air, swirling as they erupted more and more from the ground. Those were not only vines—they were tentacles. Forest green tentacles were coming for her, without a doubt at Protea’s command.
“Me too…” Protea’s voice was heard once more, finally replying to the detective, telling her that she missed her. It sounded like Protea was more than ready to assert her revenge on Cynthia. The moment was most appropriate for that.
“What the—” Before she could do anything to move out of there, the green tentacles were already on her.
She was trapped on the couch, and she was seized by them.
A pair of tentacles wrapped themselves around her ankles and another pair around her wrists, so she wouldn’t be able to fight.
“Cynthia!”
“Cyn!”
Meanwhile, her teammates could be heard shouting outside, desperately attempting to get in, but more green tentacles prevented them from doing so.
