I was today years old when I realised Humberside did indeed quietly disappear - I thought it was still there...somewhere

Map Men are great. Wish my teachers were like that at school.

Graham Bullman

I'm originally from the West Midlands, and grew up near a road called Three Shires Oak Road, because before the West Midlands existed there was an oak there that marked the border of Shropshire, Staffordshire and Worcestershire. As Birmingham became a major hub of the industrial revolution, and grew exponentially from a hamlet to the countries second biggest city, it ended up sprawling across the county borders, and so the new county West Midlands was made.

I do like the Map Men! If I go anywhere in the UK I say I’m from Essex, and if I go anywhere abroad I say I’m from London. And that seems to keep the disgust at bay for most circumstances!

Duncan

I was born and bred in Somerset. But that was a very long time ago.

Oh, the shire at the end of the counties is most often pronounced as shur. For example: Yorkshur. It depends on which county you live in as to how you want to pronounce it. (I say Yorkshur.)

Jules

I live in West Yorkshire :-)

Jules

Ah lovely! Over 10 minutes of watching 2 people's brains melt 😂

Emily

Sounds pretty nerdy

Daniel Spencer

Love Map Men! To be even more pedantic regarding their acronym joke, VPN isn’t an acronym either! It's an initialism. Acronyms are said as actual words, like RADAR and NASA, not individual letters like SAS and... VPN. 😉🙏

Ash Jeffries

I'm from God's own county, Yorkshire, greatest of all countys by default, as its gods own lol 👍♥️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
