I definitely think she is embodying that character really well! Was Queen Elizabeth I childlike and psychotic in real life? I know obviously these are played up a bit, but I’d imagine they’d be after a certain likeness.
Lord Flashheart was superb. Not sure if he shows up anymore or not, but I’m hoping so!
We’ve been enjoying this show a lot so far and hope it continues on that way!

Ah, guys! Having completed your Bottom reactions, I wondered if you'd moved on to Blackadder II *because* of Rik Mayall's cameo 😃
I was already looking forward to seeing your reaction to Lord Flashheart, but it was even better that it was a surprise after all. 😃
This was 1986, so 5 years before Bottom (1991-1995) aired, and 4 years after The Young Ones (1982).
The show genuinely does get better as it goes on. Blackadder Goes Forth (series 4) is nigh on perfect in my view.
Completely agree with Taylor - Queen Elizabeth I is my favourite character in this other than Blackadder himself. Miranda Richardson plays her perfectly. The characterisation is that of a child given far more power than she can even comprehend. That little scream perfectly embodies how childlike she is and yet also quite psychotic in her threat to cut Kate's nose off should it be prettier than her own 😂
Queen Elizabeth I was known as "The Virgin Queen" so not sure if this is what inspired the child-like persona that Miranda (and writers Richard Curtis and Ben Elton) gave her.
Superb supporting cast and plenty of laughs to come. It's kind of educational but delightfully daft above anything else. I do think you'll grow to absolutely love the show.
Great that you let the credits roll - very few reactors do because end credits aren't usually significant, especially these days. Back in the 80s, and especially here in the UK, end credits were often very much part of a show. In this show, a few free jokes thrown in via the closing theme song. 😃

Love this reaction. Rik Mayall is such a bonus at the end. His appearance in Season 4 is well worth the wait! You must watch him as the Dad in the first series of Man Down - he is Greg Davies’ (Greg Davies plays Mr Gilbert in the Inbetweeners). Mayall is wonderfully ‘over the top - you’ll love the first series!

I was really looking forward to the moment of realization when Lord Flasheart turned up. The reaction did not disappoint. I'm very glad nobody went and spoiled it for you.

Queenie is Queen Elizabeth 1st. Her father was Henry 8th, who famously killed his numerous wives because none of them bore a son to him, only daughters. In those days they weren't very woke.

Isla Fisher in Wedding Crashers, and yes, Isla in that movie instantly reminded me of Queenie at that very moment

Awe this is a stroll down memory lane for me. My grandparents would watch this when I was young (I lived with them) It’s one I was too young to remember episodes but I knew I enjoyed it if that makes sense. It’s great to sort of watch it again with you guys. This was really funny. I’m glad you enjoyed it so far!
