Video Production Updates - August 21st

Quick news update today, I wanted to give a quick rundown of what exactly is being worked on right now, in terms of the channel's video production, and what we're likely to get released before the end of the month.

So right now, the priority focus is currently on four major video projects, the first of which is the oft-requested personal mod list and graphics guide to my Morrowind setup. Now, as you might imagine, being a mod showcaser with dozens of Morrowind installs, I have quite a few different Morrowind setups with often conflicting mod lists. Breaking this down into a single mod list or guide that won't massively break everything is a fairly monumental task, but it's one that needs to be done, not just so I can finally answer questions about my mod list with a simple link, but also so I can finalize a potential Let's Play setup for any future Let's Play series.

The eventual guide will include graphics, gameplay, immersion, and content mods that I often use in my installs, and fair warning, it is heavily based on the STEP guide. It's not going to be a mod install guide though, and will include links to the original STEP guide, Morrowind Graphics Guide, Thastus Edition, and a couple of other guides to provide better alternatives. With any luck, I do hope to get it finished by the end of the month, but I'll need to setup a clean install first to make sure everything works the way I think it will, and I'm planning to generate a few patches for previously conflicting mods here and there, so we'll see.

The next project of note is a Top 15 - The Best Morrowind Mods of 2021 (So Far) video, basically a rather quick video going through and highlighting the 15 mods released, so far, that I wanted to bring extra attention to. We're getting pretty close to 1000 mods being released in 2021, though it's a bit hard to tell for sure, there's been an unusually high number of mod deletions this year, largely stemming from community drama but also the new policy of the Nexus has evidently prompted some mod deletions as well. In any event, there's been a lot of great mods released so far this year, and I just wanted to celebrate that fact with a quick video, which will probably air next weekend (the 28th or 29th depending on when it gets done).

Also in the works is a new trailer highlighting the Bitter Coast in 2021, utilizing a wide range of mods to emphasize Morrowind's beauty and atmosphere with a fully modded install. This will effectively be a sequel to our Morrowind 2019 - Bitter Coast Trailer, and will highlight some of the more recent mods that have come out since 2019. Recording work begins this weekend, and I hope to have this out on Tuesday. Personally, I am looking forward to this one, I do really love highlighting the beauty of Morrowind in flyby or trailer form, and hopefully people will enjoy it.

Finally, on the list of priority projects, we have Morrowind Modding Showcases EP77. Based on the polling results, this will be a "Other Elder Scrolls" themed episode, and I'm choosing to interpret that as mods inspired by other Elder Scrolls games, not just adding things from other Elder Scrolls games (because otherwise, there simply wouldn't be enough mods for a proper MMS episode). Currently I'm working on the layout for this one, and it is a bit tricky. We've already showcased a lot of the obvious mods, like Battlespire and Privateer's Hold, in previous MMS episodes, so we're going to be relying more on gameplay mods inspired by mechanics found in Daggerfall and Skyrim, though there's still a couple of Oblivion-themed mods we haven't showcased before as well. In any event, I'm aiming to get this out next weekend, but that might be a bit dicey since we still don't have a finalized mod layout.

Other projects that are currently being worked on include Darkelfguy's Favorite Mods EP3, which does have a finalized layout and has entered the recording stage (with the aim of airing on the 31st), the Top Ten Morrowind Mods of 2020 video, which is in the recording stage (but some previously recorded footage needs to be replaced due to more recent updates - no set date for getting this finished yet), the Mod of the Month - May 2021 and the May Modathon Winners video (also in the recording stage, there's 20 mods in this one so it's taking a bit of time), and finally the 5th episode of the Behind the Scenes podcast, which is mostly finished but still needs a bit of work before it can be uploaded.

And that's pretty much it, we do of course have a ton of Mod of the Day videos that will be airing on Monday/Wednesday/Friday, and this week's selection will be popping up on Early Access shortly.

Anyway, I think that's everything, so stay tuned for more Morrowind video footage, and also note we'll have a new online poll up tomorrow (on Sunday) for patrons. In the meantime though, thanks for reading, stay safe, stay healthy, and happy modding!
