Slipknot: The Devil in I (Ep. 676)

As someone who is a fan of "extreme" metal, I appreciate someone like yourself getting out of his comfort zone and listening to the genre. That said, I do not personally consider bands like Slipknot and Lorna Shore as good examples of what metal is about, at least to me. If you're curious, I put a playlist on the discord in the daily doug forum. The thread is named 'extreme metal.' These songs may not sound any different to you, but for me they are much better representations for what metal is about.

Your explorations of Metal have helped me understand it to a degree that I didn't previously. There are some top-notch musicians doing some amazing things, which I always appreciate. But I just can't shake the feeling every time I listen to this sort of music, that it is so joyless. That disturbs me. I know that one of the things that art is supposed to do is make me uncomfortable sometimes, challenge me to look at, or listen to, or read things that take me outside of my comfort zone. In small doses, I think Metal can be fascinating and "enjoyable" in its way. I have a hard time imagining myself taking a steady diet of it, though. Thanks, Doug, for helping me open my eyes and ears to things I might not otherwise encounter, and understand them a little bit more.

Now I understand your reactions. But the visual effects tell the story and compliment the music.
