after hearing the question about the average draft round of players on 26-man rosters, I went and made that spreadsheet for as of today (8/10/23), based on data manually grabbed from Fangraphs RosterResource, here are some highlights: Of all players currently on a 26-man roster who were drafted: Average draft round: 6.74 Median draft round: 4 % of drafted players drafted in the 1st round: 28.55% % of players who were drafted out of all players on 26-man rosters: 73.11% Latest drafted player on a 26-man roster: Caleb Ferguson (RP, LAD, drafted in the 38th round, 1149th overall in 2014) Team with the lowest average draft position of their drafted players: MIL, 3.24 Team with the highest average draft position of their drafted players: DET, 11.05 Link to the full spreadsheet below if anyone wants to take a look or if anyone is curious about any other statistical thing from this data lmk and I can probably figure it out and answer here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NAp6484-ZMb9QyPxpwi_ZQn2-f8NqZkVXeugbhaeqfs/edit?usp=sharing

I appreciate the meager optomism even though I'd probably put the Angels' playoff chances at about 1/2 of what you said at this point. So long Shohei :'(

2023-08-08 20:12:31 +0000 UTCThe pesäpallo player converted to baseball pitcher you are referring to is Konsta Kurikka and he is currently contracted to Bonn Capitals in Germanys Bundesliga. He is rehabbing from arm injury so he hasn't played and he was supposed to take the mound in July but I don't think he has yet. He did play last year in Australia in Brisbane Bandits but I think he only appeared in second team matches. But he is only 22 years old and has stated that his goal is to play in MLB in 2027 so maybe he can develop. At least his fastball is topping at 94 mph and he has only pitched for like 3 years now so maybe there could be something.
