Hey, appreciate the thoughtful response to my question. Just saw a Sun-Times report that said the Sox are in serious talks to build a stadium on a big piece of empty land near South Loop that runs parallel to Clark St. I’m a Tigers fan living in Chicago and I want to see the Sox stay here. The Nashville chatter had me worried. Unfortunately taxpayers will probably be footing the bill if this happens…But I can’t lie, it would be cool to have the Cubs and Sox on Clark and they could build a really good stadium with a prime view of the skyline like Comerica and PNC. Also for future reference, it’s pronounced Van-New-Lind. You were close!

I have a better question for next month but I’m afraid of forgetting it, so I’m going to write it here and come back later: how can we evaluate players contributions to culture? Obviously there are lots of players whose cultural impact is directly connected with their quality as players (Greenberg, Robinson, Clemente, Griffey) but then you get edge cases like Joe DiMaggio, who is often called “overrated” because of a perceived bias towards culture over statistics, or Fernando Valenzuela, who is arguably underrated because his cultural impact is overlooked outside Los Angeles. Given MLB’s ongoing struggle between efficiency and entertainment, there has to be a way to appreciate players based on their contributions off the field.

Thanks for doing this, Bailey! It's always cool to witness a more informal style with you. Thanks as well for highlighting sensory rooms, as I've been pleasantly surprised by their appearance over the last few years, too.

20:08 oh noooooo you said Zack Hample instead of Campbell

some slight optimism for the Rays stadium discussion: The new plot should have much better land use (they're building housing and other things beyond just parking logs) and St Pete's downtown is growing. It's still gonna be hard to get to from Tampa, but the percentage of people living relatively close to the stadium may grow a lot
