Why do we have to download the high-res videos?
Added 2023-06-07 15:13:36 +0000 UTCWe understand that downloading the high-resolution videos from our archive is not exactly as seamless as just watching them from a website. So some of you might be asking "why not just publish the 18K videos online"?
Unfortunately, the current technology is not quite there yet. Most platforms out there offer 4K only.
Well, on the plus side you can play our videos from your VR headset while staying offline. Additionally, the videos are large (usually over 1 gigabyte) so you may spare your data budget when replaying the videos.
Finally, we stay tuned about the latest tech news related to VR web players. So, if anything changes (and if you're really interested in streaming rather than downloading the videos) then we'll consider this approach in the future.
