Podcast Questions (Lorerunner)

Hey Patrons! So, we're going to have Lorerunner on our next podcast and wanted to see what questions you'd like to ask for our conversation with him! Fire away!

Loved the podcast guys! I have a question that I’d love to get your opinions on in a future podcast. Phill Spencer received a lot of backlash over claims that 4K is the future of gaming, giving the impression that 60 FPS is arbitrary. It also seems that other companies are prioritising 4K and higher graphics over frame rate also and I wanted to know what your thoughts were on this and where you stand on the 4K vs 60fps debate. Whilst I myself believe that 60fps should be the golden standard for a smooth experience in all games, can we really blame companies prioritising 4K in a marketplace where 4K displays are becoming more common, where people may feel robbed if all their games are being displayed at a quarter resolution of their TV’s capabilities?

For Lorerunner - how do you decide what to accept as canon for a given story or game?

This is for each and every one of you: How does your need for a story affect your enjoyment of a game? For example, do you tolerate games which have sparse or outright non-existent stories, even if the game itself really seems to capture you based on mechanics, difficulty, or just the novelty of its concepts? Conversely, do you tend to excuse boring or terrible gameplay, as long as the story is good? What if said story happens to be a masterpiece? Furthermore, should the lack of a story be a negative point in today's market, as the lack of fleshed-out or well-polished gameplay is?

On a more general note for all of you, how difficult is it separating bad localization from a bad story?

I suppose the obvious question would be - Why rumination instead of something more concrete such as reviews or a more clinical analysis?
