WE HAVE TO GO BACK

Charlie closed the door because he had to lock it from the inside that’s why he stayed in

Charlie's drowning and what does he think to do? Pass an important warning on to Desmond. I cried when he smiled and nodded, letting Des know that he had accepted his inevitable fate. :(

Yeah, but **spoilers** Claire doesn't get on an helicopter and get rescued so it really was for nothing. I love this show, but after watching it back after so many years, some scenes, like this, and some characters coughlockecough are really lackluster. A lot was for nothing.

Charlie SAVED Desmond for once, brother was running like a maniac lunatic roadrunner towards the image of Penny on the screen while the grenade was going off. He was not paying attention, it would have killed him and Charlie trying to get him away.
Then Charlie had the realization that he HAD to die there. It was his choice to get that timeline going and get Claire out of the Island despite bad people coming in Not Penny's Boat.
Charlie understood that Desmond's VISION took that into account.
Can't believe Charlie had the better sense than everyone there, including a lot of viewers eager for a "gotcha, LOST" moment.

I think the production could have made it clearer that the window was smaller for someone to get through it, or that there was some damage there, precisely to avoid the "complaints" and "gotchas."
But even if the window was passable, Charlie still chose that moment for his death. It would keep on coming and change Claire's destiny for the worse if he had survived, according to Desmond, and we know he wouldn't lie about it.
And the answers are there, it's another matter if certain fans didn't want to accept it or put some interpretation into it. And there is a necessity of interpretation.

If Charlie didn't die here, he would have evetually died because its his fate to die

The window was definitely too small for a person to fit through, and I believe someone mentioned that the pressure maintaining the base‘s air pocket would have shifted if Charlie hadn’t sealed the door from his side. Not sure if that’s true or not, but it’s definitely one of the most emotional scenes in the show regardless. Kind of surprised the girls weren’t more upset about it, but that’s alright. There are two types of reactors to Lost; those who want answers answers and answers, and those who really enjoy the character beats and storytelling moreso than the destination (the series finale really divides the fan base on this). The Normies are more in the former camp, but that’s still cool. Still a fun reaction and a great finale.

One of the most tightly put together seasons in the show imo. I think its short length actually served it well.

Nah man I disagree. Loved the moments where Nikki & Rana were wondering what the hell was going on and then over on the side there's Suraj giggling away lmao. Was a great watch

It's been years but I still vividly remember the first time seeing Kate get out that car and thinking "they knew each before!?' and then the mind blowing realisation that it was a flash forward. What a twist, what an episode! And then the fucking wait for s4!

Early on when Nikki and Rana were whispering I was worried that they had figured out the flash forward twist. Then I listened closer and realized they were whispering about the bulge in Jack's pants.

It's the most emotional moment of the series to me, and therefore the physics are virtually meaningless imo

Okay I know it's super sad but can we please talk about how stupid Charlie's manner of death was? Not to mention its complete disregard for physics- if Charlie just left the door open then neither of them would have been at any risk of drowning, the water level would rise so much more slowly if it had to flow into a bigger space. They literally had time for Desmond to say hello to Penny and then still have both of them safely exit the station.

Hoffs Drawlar (the name of the funeral home) is an anagram for "flash forward". :)
Charlie couldn't fit through that portal, you can clearly see that in several shots. But even if he could, he was resigned to his fate, he was accepting it. He knew that if he didn't die, Desmond's vision of them getting rescued may not have come true. Plus I think Charlie just knew he was delaying the inevitable, so he went out like a boss.
