And also i don't believe Mustang gets to keep the stone. Marco is going to use some of the life force that is in the stone to heal Mustangs eyes and Havoc's Spine. So to me it seems like it'll be more similar to an organ transplant. Because they're already dead and can't come back, so them giving up some of their life force to help bring their homeland back doesn't seem that bad. And i don't think the people in the stones would be that mad. The question is what did Marco do with the stone afterwards or if healing Havoc and Mustang use up the rest of the stone.

Here's the way I see it: When Winry was inside the stone, she described it as a swirling vortex of torment, which is how those Ishvalans in the stone felt at that point. It was much kinder to allow their souls to move to the afterlife in order to aid the person restructuring their country than keep them inside the swirling vortex of torment.

I don't get the issue with Mustang using the stone... The situation was a little more logical and less emotionally driven/dire however its still the same as when Al had to choose to use the stone against Kimberly & Pride.. Ultimately Edward as the true MC made the purest decision though..

For Marketa, my understanding, the stone souls for Hohenheim decided to help protect the ones that were left alive. Using the stone for Mustang for the sole purpose of healing him to do work for Ishvalan Restoration. Also you can't destroy a Philosopher Stone without using up its power. So SOMEONE needs to use it and exposing the use of Philosopher Stones by the government would be hectic. The coup was a huge mess for the populace that they are lying to coverup to keep things controlled. To expose the making of stone is really risky for taking a moral high ground.

I feel that's rather unfair to Mustang. Because there scenario we're different. Edward willingly open up the gate and receive the price for doing so. Mustang however was force to open it agaisnt his own will. So I believe he deserves some slack for using the stone. Not to mention, in the Manga their was a scene where Mustang considered sacrficing his gate to get his eye sights back but he deduce if he did that, there would be no way for him to return because his gate wasn't connected to anyone else like Ed was to Al's. He would be stuck their forever. So he had no choice but to use the stone.

ed's proposal is so perfectly him. i love it. sometimes i see people complain about this ending being "too happy" and i hate the mindset that some people have that dark/dreary automatically equals good writing. nothing wrong with having characters we've seen suffer and who we have seen gone through a lot through how many episodes get a happy ending that they deserve and that they worked so hard for.

About the Mustang issue with the stone... The stone is irreversible. Using the stone for medicine doesn't cause them any additional pain, actually it puts an end to the suffering of some of the souls, because once they are used as fuel they are gone; that is literally the only way to destroy a stone: use it up until it's all gone. So, since the only way to break the stone and lay the Ishvalen on it to rest is using it up, why not use it up in a manner that helps restoring their country?

I'm really going to miss these reactions...my favourite anime. I like the fact that an entire episode was dedicated to the epilogue. Legend of Korra had maybe less than half an episode to wrap things up. Which was unfortunate. I think Scar could have died - having him sacrifice himself for the good of everyone would have been fitting. Living on, helping his people works, too though.

I think it's really difficult to go from FMAB to FMA. 100% of the people I know who did that hated FMA. Because it developed on characters they didn't care about. If u go the other way, FMAB doesn't develop on characters that were well developed in FMA.

Ignoring the editing mistakes, you guys should watch the 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist show. Its different from FMAB but its still really great! I would recommend watching it in a few months though so FMAB isn't still fresh on your minds, because the tone and pacing is very different, but I'm sure you'll all like it (ask Navi, she'll tell you its dope)
