I can see where they're coming from though, I used to hate the subs too quite a while ago, thinking how the hell could people see what's going on if they keep having to shift their focus between the subtitles and the moving imagery. There are some things that are a "blink and you'll miss" moments too

Subs are great for many anime, but it's fine. The good thing with dubs at least is that they can focus on the scenes better since they dont have to read the bottom of the screen so often.

I gotta say that some of the moments in the Sub are way more emotionally provoking than in the Dub for this particular anime. There are moments in which I felt sad watching the Dub, but the Sub did the scene so much better to the point it brought me to tears. I just believe that it’s personal preference but I don’t agree with the “purist” point that was made because a true purist would watch the show in the original language the show was supposed to be portrayed in. However, the author of the manga went to a Con here in the US and talked to the voice actors/actresses of the show and was actually very impressed with their work and honestly there isn’t much to complain about with the Dub of this show...but with that said as someone else stated the context is changed slightly depending on which you decide to watch it in. There’s a couple of videos on YouTube about it online but you’d need to watch the full first season as to avoid spoilers before checking them out.

The way Deku is portrayed in dubs vs subs is a bit different, but the dub is alright. I prefer Subs personally. Some phrases just don't translate well.

I am incredibly glad you guys are going with the dub. As a dub watcher it’s hard to watch subbed and especially reactions to it, and I think the dub is so excellent for MHA. This is my favourite anime and one of my favourite ever shows so I’m keen.

Ive never understood how someone can say the japawnease voice acting is better unless you understand japanease , how are you suppose to read there emotion when you dont know which word they're adding muster to, hell you dont even know if the translation right, you could be sitting there like wow so much emotion but thats not even what they're actually saying. Like i get that watching the show in japanease when you understand japanease is probably way better, but most of us dont. And i like watching reaction videos for the reaction, i want to be able to follow along to the show while also watching there reaction, i dont want to be glued to words at the bottom of the screen. anyways just my opinion.

Agreed. I watched it initially subbed and then later I introduced a friend to this show and we watched it dubbed. Some of the emotion doesn't come across as well with the dub, but it's still high quality so it's not a huge deal.

Just a suggestion on subs vs dub. Other reactors would watch an episode on subs. Then watch next episode on dubs. That way you could see the difference between the two. For MHA, the dub is good. But i personally still prefer the subs because the Japanese voice actors convey the emotions better.

I honestly love the sub and the dub for this show. The sub is marginally better because it’s a translation vs. an interpretation, but the dub is solid and fun. The only thing the dub doesn’t explain very well is why Izuku is called Deku which Izuku’s name written in kanji part of it can be read as Deku which translates to useless. Which is roughly how he feels because he’s the only one of his peers without some sort of ability.

I'll admit the dub is better than most dubbed anime out there. The only problems I see with it are the VAs chosen for some side characters and the sheer raw epicness of some intense scenes that are better in subs but this is just all criticism from someone who has seen bnha in both subs and dub sooo you guys shouldn't notice anything particularly off or annoying since y'all are only watching dub.

I think this is one of those rare anime's were the dub is as good as the sub, I prefer dub but I love sub for this to it's just easier for me to enjoy the reaction if I don't have to read the subtitles on a small screen. But I do think All Might is one of Chris Sabbots characters. Also the Quirk I'd want is super speed, can't wait for more reactions guys

tbh this is what i feel the western anime community needs more in general. Less calling all dubs unwatchable or "trash" but more so different people have different taste. And trying to blanket statement like that causes nothing but hate. I personally watch both. Subs mostly for old anime in the early 90s and 80s who had bad quality control or anime without dubs today. If more people could just respect others opinions or choices rather than trying to prove why someones opinion is somehow more valid their would be less elitism as a whole. Dubs must have a audience and making a profit sto still be being made.

I started this show with the dub because i was watching it with my 5 year old, but once we passed season 2, we have had to watch the sub as that is as far as it went at the time. I have had to read all of season 3 to her :).
