I feel like Suraj making Nikki wait for a week or so to watch the next episode of Lost is giving her the authentic Lost experience. Those waits from week to week were borderline unbearable. And the wait from the season finales to the season premieres were the worst!

Boone's loyalty to Locke was a welcome character development. I always liked that. If I was on the island I'd hang out with Locke all the time too.

I've given most of my thoughts on this episode last week, but watching this episode along (for like the 10th time) made me catch a couple of things I haven't before. One was obvious and dumb (on my part) is Walt's "special"powers or whatever they are were at least hinted to be connected with the polar bear appearing near him. How the fuck did I miss that? Also, we talked about the writers doing a good job of sprinkling hints about characters here and there. Well, one that jumped out to me this time was the close up of the diary line that Charlie makes Claire feel really safe. We see him get all giddy about it, but it actually has a much deeper meaning to Charlie and is good set up for the next episode. Charlie's "flaw" was always centered around his drug habit. However, in his first flashback we see that he first used at the lowest points of his life when he felt the most "useless". That's a continuing theme with Charlie from the first episode to the end of his perfect arc (in my opinion). He always wanted to feel useful and to at least feel like he can "take care" of someone. From the start of that filler-y fun side plot with Shannon asking him to get her a fish, to him finding Claire and being content with life again as he was able to take care of someone. It really helped him beat his addiction the first time. Charlie's self worth and drug use always oscillated like a seesaw, and he was kind of having a a hard time with Claire not being around. So the diary and that line really made him feel like he was helping someone, and it made him really happy. It's also a good set up for the next episode and his flashback with that girl who says "you will never take care of anyone Charlie" and how important that backstory was for his character and the decision he makes then.
