By healing himself Ed severed the connection he had with Al's body. That's why Al keeps losing consciousness, his body isn't getting the nutrients it was previously. Now Ed can grow big and strong, but Al doesn't have much more time!

Dont forget what Dominic the auto mail engineer said in episode 11- his heavy auto mail (presumably his arm) might be stunting his growth. What did he do several weeks before the time skip? Upgraded to lighter auto mail.

I like Marketa's theory that when Ed healed himself from the impaling that he aged several years almost immediately. He's grown at least 4-6 inches in the span of a few months if you compare it to side by side images of him and Winry from early episodes.

You didn't miss an episode. Remember May was up in the ice and snow up at Briggs and then needed to travel to the eastern border to reach the desert. As a child, with little legs, that could not risk being spotted by the military with a green talking slug. Envy is not Greed and would have at least told wrath or Father something by now, so it is known they are MIA. Which means being extra careful with trains and transport. So she took a while to get there and now she is going back from the border to Central. For a small kid without a crap ton of resources it would take time. So her timeline isn't too far fetched to match up with the upcoming Promised Eve/Day timeline imo.
