It’s easy for Mr Peanutbutter to have his perspective on life considering he doesn’t have the backgrounds of Diane and/or Bojack. It’s like being asked to smile while you’re depressive: I get that you’re in a happy situation but I’m not, my mind doesn’t work the same way, so it’s not so easy to think of the world as you do. He doesn’t always seem to understand the difference between himself and his relatively perfect upbringing and life ( and also stumbling into great situation after situation) and others. Being depressed skews your perceptions and can be a positive feedback loop like what Bojack and Diane seem to be going through.
