Art Preview: Copycat Second Path Scene

Heya, cakes!

So here's the second part of our art updates for the month, which completes the illustrations for the Copycat storyline. It depicts the second version of events that occur during the scene where Akiko confronts our protagonist.

Obligatory spoiler warning for people who haven't read the second Copycat storyline. Click the linked text below to see the sketches.

The scene in focus is the part where Akiko, having mostly rid herself of Kyou's mind meddling, arranges to meet him after school where she confronts him and asserts her own identity. In doing so, she attempts to put a stop to his penlight-aided wrongdoing for good while Kyou desperately tries to take back control of the situation.

In the original path, Kyou fails miserably but in this version Kyou had the opportunity to implant some more suggestions in Akiko's head that she wasn't able to lose, and Kyou is able to exploit that in this confrontation. Akiko begins to doubt herself as Kyou picks at her insecurities, and it causes her to drop her guard...

And that moment of doubt is all it takes for Kyou to set upon her, penlight in hand, as he sweeps it across her eyes. Akiko can only plead desperately as Kyou talks her back into trance, and like so many times before it she can only find herself falling under his spell. She drops back into trance and this time Kyou will make sure she loses her true identity for good; an unhappy, unfulfilling relationship awaiting them both...

While I'm less than happy with how the next storyline writing's going, it's nice to be able to put a bow on Copycat, which also took longer than I wanted but mostly turned out pretty okay! Anyway, I hope you'll like the new CGs and whatever I come up with for the next story path in next week's update of Penlight~
