My muse

Lina Tsapova

So it was supposed to be a film shoot with natural light. But the studio misunderstood us when booking, so our time started exactly when the sun was no longer in the studio.

I used to get upset, because every time I try to shoot in the studio on medium format film something happens. This time is no exception - not only was it dark and I had to shoot completely with artificial light, all the shots on the MF came out underexposed and I forgot that there was black and white film in the camera... and as you can see I was fooling around with color light. ....It's good that I at least shot a little more on a digital camera and made a few Polaroids (they are at the end).

Am I upset that I couldn't shoot on MF again? - no. I gained another experience. I've already resigned myself to the fact that it won't be easy, and everything won't work out right away either. So for now I'm glad that at least I got the Polaroids on the Hasselblad) Not perfect but they'll do for the first time.

I went to study further)

I appreciate this work Julia, and always enjoy hearing about the process, good or β€œbad.”

You know, to me it looks like you took a bunch of lemons and made lemonade out of them! I find these shots subtle and geometric and perfectly exposed for a stark noir series. The gradients are impressive. It’s interesting to me how often the artist can be disappointed with a result when it’s not what they envisioned, however to the viewer the works presented look flawless. To some extent this is an inner lesson about expectations, but also it’s a valid desire to master the tools of our trades. Either way, I think it’s a cool shoot πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ
