Art & Davey Backgrounds

The short was my graduation project for an animation course I was following, and deadlines were tight, so a lot of these aren't quite as detailed as I would have initially liked.
In the end, I feel like it was a blessing in disguise. The simplicity of the backgrounds makes every action that happens on screen very readable.
It also helped reinforce the vibe I was going for: I wanted their apartment to feel like those stereotypical male apartments you see images of online. A couch, a TV, maybe a Playstation. These are two shlubby guys whose first priority isn't interior design.
As you can see, the building the lived in was originally going to be in the middle of the city. But I decided against it, because Art & Davey would probably never be able to afford that.
In the end, I'm happy with these. I think the shapes I used could have been more interesting, but there's always next time.
