I'm afraid...

Hello everyone.

My YouTube performance has been stagnating for a long time. I am not sure why. I am really trying hard, working long hours and constantly learning and improving. But the views are going down and the ad revenue is falling even further. I am not taking any affiliate or sponsorship money. It's just you, my patrons, and the YouTube ad revenue. But inflation and taxes are eating away much of my earnings.

What can I do better? What do you think I am doing wrong? It seems that easiest way to make money on YouTube is to make low-effort videos on daily or very frequent basis. But there are some channels that produce quality videos (e.g. Polymatter, Wendover Productions, Real Life Lore) once a week or biweekly and are successful.

What am I doing wrong?

I don't want to sound desperate. I would just really appreciate your feedback.

I would say you're doing nothing wrong. Sort of counterintuitively, the fall in revenue from YouTube specifically may be the fact that people are actually following your advice. If I turn on adblock, use NewPipe, and download the video, most you would get is a view. No ad revenue, no comments (since I don't have a google account). That is what you've been teaching. It sucks that you're losing money, but a platform that may respect privacy better could be an option. You said you don't trust those platforms, and I understand, but if you really want to fuck google and keep your livelihood, you can try the other ones. If you get some better income from it, it may pay to migrate elsewhere where you can get money without Google

Try finding other ways to monetize your content. Patreon is a good start but maybe try adding the join button on YouTube some people don’t use Patreon for one reason or another. Or make a course something extensive with step by step guide. For the most dedicated and willing to learn to purchase and learn from. Just a thought.
