I grew up swimming in the Okanagan Lake where the Ogopogo resides. Ogopogo is actually a gibberish word for it, it's actually know as n ̓x̌ax̌aitkʷ (n-ha-ha-it-koo), which means "sacred being in the water" or "spirit of the lake." It's an indigenous legend, and super cool. There are parts of the lake that are so deep that no one has found the bottom of it, which to me makes the creatures existence more than plausible.
