Lothar's clothing (not just in this episode, but in general) draws most of its influence from America's golden youth. Being raised the way he was, heir apparent of a wealthy industrialist, he's been trained for neat, higher-class style to and keep up appearances since his earliest years. Still, as someone barely out of his teens, he keeps things proper, but ultimately informal. Perfect to blend in as an ordinary tourist in Cairo.

Considering his minor hero worship tendencies towards Lambert, I like to imagine he picks gear very similar to the team leader for when "on the job". Unlike Lambert's wardrobe, however, Lothar's clothing contains pieces of modern day sporting equipment, that help to keep him grounded firmly in the world of today.
