Preview of 2021

TL;DR: What is coming? More comics (three "franchises", so to speak), physical goods (Shirts designs, some minor trinkets and some printed things, patrons getting the first cut) and e-reader support. Principal themes of this year will be Guild Wars 2, Whistle at the Wind (my pirate novel), Final Fantasy and Semper Fidelis (my anthro adventure series).

At the time of writing, I'm still unemployed/between jobs, so I rely on all the pocket change, occasional odd job and all the earnings past four years of workoholism managed to save up. It's a bit of a holiday, and I embrace this time to create as much as I can.

So, what exactly is in store for this year?

Most importantly, there will be more of that which you're presumably here for: comics! And you won't have to wait that long.

First one, another Guild Wars episode, is nearly done, and it will be a bit more retrospective than the previous three (yet still has a certain tie to current events). Expect six pages of vines and tangle.

And since you asked for it, I dedicated December entirely to comics, and there's already another charr episode in the works, this time related directly to the currently ongoing civil war and one of its most shocking events. I have no exact timeline for that one yet, and its details depend a lot on the new story patch that recently hit, which I hope to play soon.

At least one more charr comic is planned around Halloween and has been written/storyboarded for some time now.

Those three are the bare minimum to match last year, but if a chance appears to make some more, I'll gladly take it.

Second, Semper Fidelis. Character artwork and new lettering is done for all of issue 3, but background reworks ended up being quite more extensive (previously showed page 2 kind of extensive) on the night-set part of the story. The original was... well, simply put, bad. Dark, messy, hard to read. I hope to have the issue done around April or May, and then start working on finally some new stuff you haven't seen yet. Since conventions (and my principal sale opportunities) are still off this year, it's to be worked on between other projects.

And third, this year is the year of the pirate in this house. So a lot of time will be dedicated to Whistle at the Wind, my mariner-themed graphic novel set in 1760s. I'll start with sharing some designs, sketches and short stories, and there's a big treat I'm working on right now with one other artist I'd like to share before the month is up.

If time permits, I also want to poke around Hollow and Borderline a little bit.

I also have some plans for physical items. I'd like to make more shirt designs (at least two charr ones to be sold through FanForge, and several Final Fantasy ones sold and made directly by me), but I don't have ETA for that yet. While a lot of the designs is already done or semi-done, my trusted manufacturer is shut down for the duration of national emergency and I'll have to test some new ones before I make something of a bigger batch.

On the practical side, I'd like to continue to improve my Patreon discipline. I managed to figure out the ifs and buts of the e-reader files over the holidays, so all three previous charr comics (as well as any incoming) will soon receive their tablet/reader friendly versions in PDF and CBZ/CBR for easy read and download.

March will also see the return of the polls (I'm taking them off February to finish the comics and work on... one other minor thing I will share at the end of the week.)

So, that said, now about that art that is due...
