Usually when released weekly, animes will separate both halves of a stereotypical season with arcs that are released at different times to give the studio a break on the anime, to work on other anime, to work on the next arc, wait for the manga to come out with more content to work with, etc., you name it. Super long animes don't usually operate this way (like Naruto,) but AoT and MHA are both considerably long and to this day still operate in that fashion. Love the reactions!

About your question from the beginning, Anya didn't tell Twilight that someone was drowning, that scene where she says that was a made-up scenario that Anya imagined. To avoid Twilight questioning her about how she knew that someone was drowning she ran to the pool screaming about wanting to become a good swimmer and using the hospital pool to practise, and then when Twilight saved them both she said she saw bubbles coming to the surface not that she knew that the kid was drowning.
