EARLY ACCESS: The Permian Period (That We Know Of)

Wooooo I'm so stoked it's done!! I hope you enjoy :)

Alsoo...there's a section I kinda went back and forth on: Estemmenosuchus. Would love your thoughts on it. I mainly included them to introduce the "shrink wrapping" discourse within paleoart. Obviously their vibe is pretty heinous, and it's fun to talk about how their reconstructions have varied over time. But I realized after I filmed it that I didn't really hammer in how much goes into reconstructing animals from their fossils. And I guess I'm worried that it might come off as me suggesting it's a total guessing game and is still problematic, which definitely was not my intention. I think I've been overthinking it bc I've been thinking about how to approach the "T.rex had wings" conspiracy --- reading through comments on some of those videos, etc. and worry that I should've taken the "shrink wrapping" discussion more seriously and added more layers to it so it's not misinterpreted.

I asked Gian about it and he thought the section was fine, so I decided to keep it in the video and chalked it up to me overthinking lol. But I wanted to ask for your thoughts on it anyway -- I might do a little pinned disclaimer if it seems necessary. And will likely expand on it in a future dedicated video :)

Comments

I don't think there was anything wrong with the "shrink wrapping" section.

I thought the Estemmenusuchus section made sense, I have seen some of the pictures that have been floating around. (Probably from you. πŸ˜„)
