What is the "deepest" song by BTS??

Hey guys. I had a thought while I was just lying in bed this morning and I wanted to get your thoughts and opinions on it. What song by BTS do you think is the "deepest" song they have ever done? Blood, Sweat, and Tears? Whalien 52? Fake Love? Spring Day? Truth Untold?

Comments

Sorry for joining this thread late but I also want to share my thoughts x.x When you say 'deep', I feel that it means that it's very raw and personal. Hence, I will go with songs like Born Singer, Black Swan, Lie, First Love and The Last - because it's like 'story telling' of personal real experiences. Spring Day is my favourite song from them but in this case I feel that it does not fit this category - it's more towards emotional and metaphorical. Not straight to the point, and other people can have different interpretations. Although that being said, I cried 2 times because of Spring Day. First, when I read the lyrics for the first time, and second when I saw BTS performing it right in front of my eyes. It just hits different. =')

For me Sea!! Combine of dessert & sea and pain & hope!

Anna from KR

The only song I’ve ever in my life actually cried to was MAMA - jhope. And I cried like I was dying 💀. It’s not that deep but it gets me in the feels

Mya

Spine Breaker is pretty deep.

Blood, Sweat, and Tears, The Truth Untold, Love Maze, We are Bulletproof:Eternal, Butterfly, Epiphany (Jin Solo), Promise (Jimin Solo) , Louder than Bombs, House of Cards, Interlude: Shadow (Suga Solo) and as crazy as this might sound, I would dare to add Lie to this list as the meaning is not quite as simple as it first seems.

Mini2Mochi

For me, House of Cards. All of their songs have such deep meaning to them. That's one reason I love this group of young men. I haven't heard one superficial song by them yet. House of Cards still makes me cry or feel like crying every single time I hear it. The other song that makes me cry or feel like crying is Taehyung song Stigma. The pain and emotion in his voice just breaks my heart.

I'll go with "Spring Day." It's such a moving tribute to the 250 high school students and other people who drowned in the Sewol Ferry Disaster of 2014. It's no accident that the song stayed on the charts in South Korea for nearly four years. Just about every topic relating to youth that figures in the songs and other artistic work of BTS, occurs somewhere in the story of Spring Day. Anxiety, guilt, loneliness, loss of loved ones ... and also the cruel societal factors that allowed the tragedy to happen in the first place. The fact that the students stayed in their cabins because the Captain had told them to, and they had been conditioned all their lives to obey authority figures without question. The fact that the tragedy was down-played in the news and not spoken about by many people who had not directly lost friends and family members, was deplorable. And the the high school kids who had lost their friends, had no way to legitimately process their grief. Perhaps worst of all is the fact that, to some of the corporate, governmental, and business interests whose shoddy oversight allowed it to happen, it was treated as nothing more than "the cost of doing business." All of this and other things of this nature, are central to the social critique in BTS' art. Here's a link to a Wikipedia article about the event, and this article cites its sources so that they can be fact-checked: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinking_of_MV_Sewol The poignant images in that video ... the members being filmed lying among the clothes of the victims, which were made into a commemorative art installation -- the haunting images of the shoes hanging in the tree ... to my way of thinking, this song is the epitome of "deep."

For me, black swan

Nicolai

For me is spring day and whalien 52 this lyrics are very deep

Nuria

All of their songs are deep, there is not just one to choose

taesthetic_mots

Except for the English language songs, all of their music is deep. It's impossible to say one is deeper that the next. Some songs are more meaningful to me. Mr. DT, these guys have released a massive amount of music. Stop lying in bed so long. LOL

Maknae Girl

For me "deepest song" implies a song that is not so easily understood or interpreted and so for me that song would be "blood, sweat, and tears", because it is a song with multi-facets and levels to it. On the one hand it is about going from childhood to adulthood and the lost of innocence, but it is also about dealing with temptation and seeing the evil that is in the world with all its problems/conflicts, and then about dealing with death and lost itself. However, if when you say "deepest", your saying "most meaningful", then I would say a song that is uplifting to army and provides support and encouragement would be the deepest song, and they have many songs like that to choose from (ie., Idol, Magic Box, Zero O'clock).

Wayne Morrison

DT, you are a" hard taskmaster" to make us chose one Deepest Song.. BTS has brought us so many deep, beautiful songs but since you said one, I will have to go with the "Queen", Spring Day"

Hi DT!!! After listening to almost all of their songs. I definitely know I can't choose just one song that has a deep meaning to it because they all have a very deep meaning to them. Like one of your other Patreon members stated, and I am paraphrasing, that some if not all of their music has a duel meaning and there are quite a few that I have a hard time listening to because of my recent and horrible breakup. They are just so heart wrenching but yet cathartic music that is out there today. So in my opinion all their music is deep. Have a great day y'all!!!💜💜💜💜

Vanessa

I think so many of their songs are deep and beautiful. I would say alot of their japanese songs always hits me in the feels. Crystal Snow, Let Go, & Your Eyes Tell. With solos I'm gonna say Forever Rain and First Love. They always leave me in tears.

Amanda Rose Reyes

Spring Day and Lie

Shirley Courtwright Meisenburg

Sea, Singularity and Black Swan. For the two latter songs, knowing the source of inspiration helps in understanding the song’s meaning and depth — which makes it more deep or complex, IMO. Those songs aren’t so straightforward. If I were to include a solo song, I’d also include Forever Rain.

DrValkyrie

Same for me.These are the songs with deep meanings.💜💜

I am agree with SEA

Lalo de L

I've only been Army for just over a year and a half, so I haven't yet heard all of BTS' discography or even listened closely to the lyrics of all the songs that I love. What I have noticed is that most of their songs have a dual meaning, one that's more surface or generalized and another one with a much deeper message. For example, Spring Day's lyrics were actually about the Sewol Ferry accident, but any listener who didn't know that would think it's a song of heartbreak & loss. My list also includes some solo works: Life Goes On Louder Than Bombs Persona Epiphany Let Go Serendipity The Truth Untold Mikrokosmos Bulletproof: The Eternal Zero O'Clock Fly To My Room Magic Shop Baepsae Spinebreaker 21st Century Girls Mono AGUSTD-2

Amethyst Arthur

I agree 100% so it's hard to make a small list

Amethyst Arthur

Sea....i always cry ( i cry a lot because of BTS) but its the only song i cant listen to because it makes me to sad....its a beautiful song but the meaning is so special....for me its one of the most emotional songs

It’s so hard to choose but everyone already said a lot of deep songs. Not the deeepest song, but personally I think fly to my room is looked over by a lot of people. It may not be a really, in your face, sad type of deep but if you think about it it can be deep. For example one line says “sometimes you gotta know, broken is beautiful” and in pretty sure it’s about the pandemic. Cuz another line is saying “feel like it’s day one someone rewind that clock.” Wow I wrote a lot😓

Mya

For me it will always be Lie Louder than bombs House of cards Spring day

BTSisInspiration

Does The Last counts as BTS? All of Agust D's work are deep. Actually the rap line mix tapes are all very deep, including Mono and Hope World...so hard to choose!

Mandymolala

DT I think this is a very hard question. BTS is a Genre of its own and so nobody anticipates a deep and meaningful song, as every song they release (or don't) is individualisd. A deep meaningful song to one person will be completely different to another. And yet ALL their songs touch people in the deepest of ways. With every song they sing there's always at least one part of it that gives you 'the feels' or 'nostalgia' etc.... I think it is special and rare for Singers to affect people's lives (in a mostly positive way) like BTS. And as for Jimin........he is currently (unknowingly) getting me through the roughest time in my life. And of course ARMY 💜💜

Georgie Steele

i think you should listen to Sea. it makes me sad when i listen to that. for me Sea is on another level. it is so touching

hanisa

Paradise, zero o’clock and the entire mono mixtape, these songs helped me reflect on myself and go through difficult times

Amina

Always thought Epiphany by Jin was the deepest. First time I heard it, translated, I cried like a baby.

Rebecca Toutges

SEA is veryy beautiful song and i love the message from the song.

hanisa

I feel this song it resonates!!

Georgie Steele

Oh and i always get emotional while listening to Sugas First Love 💜💜

Hmm excluding solos, units or Japanese songs I'd pick Spine Breaker Butterfly Whalien 52 21st Century Girl 2!3! ( half of the Love Yourself : Tear album 😂 ) Mikrokosmos Black Swan We are bulletproof : the eternal Blue and Grey But I think all of their songs are deep 😂 they always mean something, or they can be interpreted many ways.

I think that the deepest song is always the song that resonates the most with you and your situation. So songs like Paradise Blue and Grey The truth untold Forever Young Outro:Tear Spring day Never mind Persona Epiphany Interlude:Shadow Butterfly Black Swan Sea and so many more are deserving of the title... For me personally it is (at the moment) Interlude:Shadow

Vanessa Squintu

for me, its … Sea , We are Bulletproof: The Eternal, Never Mind, Butterfly, Zero O’Clock , Magic Shop, The Truth Untold , Young Forever. 🙌🏻🙌🏻

This is a tough one! I would say Sea, Spring Day, Blue and Grey, Outro:Tear, Whalien 52, Butterfly, and many other songs!

Susan Schmoyer

Spring Day. Black Swan. Shadow. The Truth Untold.

Shell Whitt

Not including solos I would say: - Love Myself: Answer - Outro: Tear. -Blue & Grey. -Spring Day. -Moving On. -You Never Walk Alone. -Intro: Nevermind - Sea. -Let Go. -zero o’ clock -paradise

laura

So many..I think. Epilogue:Young forever Answer: Love Myself Outro:Tear 2!3! Blood sweat and tears Spring day The truth untold Butterfly Louder than bombs Suga- First Love,The last, inturlude:Shadow Jin- Epiphany

A lot of the rapline songs.. Shadow and First Love from Yoongi.. Outro: Tear.. for the vocal line maybe House of cards! Love that song.

It’s not called outro shadow. It’s called interlude shadow

Juli

Blue and grey Interlude shadow Black swan Spring day Sea I don’t think there is one song that is the deepest. I’d say 95 percent of their songs have a deeper meaning

Juli

Blue and grey, Sea, Jhopes Blue Side. Outro: Tear. 💜💜

Erika Peleckaitė

Louder than bombs Blue and grey Your eyes tell We are bulletproof : the eternal Spring day Young forever

Paradise

AKIRA HSIEH

Personally I think that butterfly is as it actually is written for someone who is feeling suicidal ☹️ and if you read the lyrics it is so deep

Liv mills

Sea, Black Swan, Outro : Tear, Interlude : Shadow, Louder than Bombs... honestly most of their songs are so deep, so it's impossible to just pick one. even the songs u may think it's relatively light are actually deep if u truly understand the meanings. (e.g. ON, Dionysus, IDOL, Baepsae etc) but if i rlly have to pick one, it'd be Sea.

lucy

Blue and grey!
