For me, the 2 songs that represent BTS the most is 'Black Swan' and 'ON'

He didn’t say that, he said he’s a great singer but when they get older people might expect him to do the tricks and flips he did when he was younger.

You didn’t think he had the chops to sing Film Out on muster tho. Day 2, 30:08 and then you told him to save his voice?

I appears he likes V voice the best. I remember during the muster he didn’t think Jimin could handle the high notes for one of the songs on day 2 - the Japanese song, Film out I think?

I think your assuming quite a bit. What specific “serious injury” did Jimin suffer? Yes we have seen him have neck and shoulder pain over the years. On the last vlive, JK was the one who kept rubbing his own neck. Don’t make declarations about their health unless they’ve shared that info themselves.

He’s a native of Queens NYC, US.

and of course many will attack about Jimin. I love Jimin, all of him. Great singer, dancer, great artist and performer. Ther is no doubt about that. I think that music industry needs such a unique voices like Jimin has, but also I think that DT is right in what he said. Thinking about this Jimin might be prepared for his dancing career to end but it most definitely will be the hardest for him. He said " dancing is my life" on 2021 festa interview. Not singin (which he love for sure) but dancing. Sooo yeah you know there is a reason why he is a main character in black swan, cause that for sure will be his first death in artistic life. I only hope he love singing enough to pursue his career and let us hear him on no end.

There's a saying 7년차 징크스(Jinx of 7th year) and 마의 7년(Disaster of 7 years) in Korea, Cuz many idols disband/leave the group less than or around the 7 years. The reasons are mostly discord between members, conflict with their agency, or continuous poor achievement which is considered unrecoverable at this point. It's really hard and rare case to last that long without a major conflict, and with the results enough to maintain the group. So the fact that not only did BTS break that, but also signed for ANOTHER 7 YEARS means a lot :) It shows the confidence, and the strong trust between members and with the company.

For me the song that best represents BTS is the song Idol. It is a very positive song but at the same time rebellious and cheeky, which for me is BTS. They are all those things and more.

That's not what I said at all. In fact I acknowledged that he has a great voice. But Jimin even said it himself in the interview that he would be worried about the dancing in his older age. No one else mentioned that but him. There is a reason for that. He is known for his highly advanced and athletic dance moves. That is why I said he would have to make the biggest adjustment as he gets older. More so than any of the other guys. I love Jimin's voice, and I have complimented him on it countless times.

As I said in my original post, I think Jimin will stop being able to perform first because of his chronic injuries, not because of his talent or desire to dance. He is a born performer and lives to be on the stage. Not being able to perform at the highest level when that day comes will hit Jimin really hard, probably moreso than the other members. Again, it's just my opinion based on observation. Time will ultimately tell what happens with each of the members. Hopefully they will all stay happy and health and be able to continue performing for many years to come.

agree with all of you in these comments tbh. it’s so sad that jimin is overlooked as a singer bc he’s my favorite voice in the group and favorite dancer. idk i just didn’t expect to hear that comment from him. there’s so many vocal coaches that bias jimin and praise his voice, compared to MJ for voice (just like dancing) and same for prince and queen. his voice is so unique and amazing and he’s the ONLY lead vocalist for a reason.

Yet Hobi is older than Jimin but you think both someone older and younger than Jimin can continue to dance longer but not him? I never said you said anything against anyone. I am just trying to understand why you think specifically Jimin is the only one who will struggle to dance!

I agree with you Jiminluver, my impression is the same as yours. I think it's perfectly fine to have personal favorites when it comes to vocals but having a preference for certain voices shouldn't automatically mean one singer isn't as accomplished as the others. As in this case, where it is very clear from a professional point of view, that Jimin is a very good singer.

2 years age difference can make a big difference when you're in your 20's, especially when one member has chronic pain as a result of serious injury. I never said anything against Jimin's dance style. I'm not sure where you read that...
Jimin always puts 1000% into every dance he does. My comment was based on observation and is just my personal opinion in response to DT's question. It wasn't an attack on Jimin. Jimin is the most technically trained and the most creative dancer in the group by far. He also has the voice of an angel and charisma like no other.

As for the one song that best represents BTS, I can only speak for the songs I've already experienced in the year & a half that I've been part of Army. I can't single out just one song, so here's my top 5:
Mic Drop 🎤
Blood Sweat and Tears
ON
Louder Than Bombs 💣
Butter
Each of these songs 🎵 together encompass the group's best qualities:
passion, talent, tenacity, courage, strength, and confidence.

You are so right abt all your points Sophia.
I also think apart from lack of knowledge, maybe Jimin's voice is not DT's fav, coz he mostly praises other vl members for vocals and usually Jimin for dancing., I think he genuinely doesn't understand how talented a singer Jimin is.
Jiminluver
2021-07-24 02:30:59 +0000 UTC
Jimin and Jk are 2 years apart. I dont think that's a big age difference. And he has struggled with injuries because he has carried the most technically difficult and dangerous parts of the choreo, not because of his dancing style

2021-07-24 02:26:56 +0000 UTC
You really don't think Jimin is a stellar singer huh? You really said vocal line without including Jimin :/ He literally is the Lead Singer of the group. I wish and hope he becomes the most successful artist/singer post BTS and continues to sing till he is a grandpa. Maybe you should watch and react to some videos about Jimin's vocal skills rather than the usual Jimin cutie sexy lovely videos for a little while to truly understand the depth of his talent

I would say Idol and blood, sweat and tear, however, like they said Dynamite is easy to relate to then people will go back to other Korean songs after listening to Dynamite.

Yes, I think it's a shame that when it comes to Jimin, his singing skills often takes a back seat and people are more focused on how attractive he is while dancing. Unfortunately, that happens when someone does not know enough about the technical side of singing. I can no longer count how many vocal coaches and producers are Jimin biased, especially because of his unique voice color and also because of his singing technique.

This was a good interview. I agree that I think Jimin will have the hardest time when he stops being able to dance at his current level anymore. He's already struggled with some serious back and neck injuries. JK will struggle as well, but think he will be able to maintain his current level for awhile being that he is in such good shape and he is the macknae. Youth is on his side. Hobi, however, lives to dance and I think he's escaped serious injury so far. I think Hobi will be dancing at a very high level well into old age if he wants to. If the group can maintain their popularity throughout their military enlistment, they have the potential to never really leave the spotlight. Their performances will just become more low-key and entertaining in other ways.

I agree with this! Jimin is so multitalented and it often gets overlooked because of his "sexy aura" or stage presence. I have always said Jimin's voice is my favorite because it is so unique and nothing like ive ever heard before. I also see MANY many vocal coaches bias and praise him because of his beautiful vocals..

They put so much thought and consideration into their music... what they release and when they release it. That level of intention makes it so I can only believe that whatever they are releasing at the time is a description of where they're at in the moment. You can say you like a song from 4, 5, 6 years ago the best but it doesn't represent who they are now. Part of what makes them admirable as humans is that they allow themselves to grow and evolve, and what makes them admirable as artists is that their music grows and evolves along with them.
As far as Jimin goes... He is a trained dancer. If there is one thing he has known from a young age it's that dancing isn't forever.... it's rarely something that even lasts through your 30's... so I'm sure he's prepared for that eventuality. Given the fact that he is vocal line, has been dedicated to improving his voice since day one, and has only continued to become a greater singer year after year... I think he'll be fine with that aspect as well.

I disagree with you about Jimin. From my perspective it looks like you see Jimin as a dancer first and maybe overlook how much Jimin wanted to be a singer from the very beginning. Before Jimin even started dancing, he talked about how much he wanted to sing and make singing his main job.
Yes, Jimin is a fantastic dancer, personally I have never seen a dancer like him with such a special charisma. Maybe it could be harder for him, because of his unique love for dancing but he is not less of an artist, singer if at some point he isn't able to do it anymore.
From your point of view Jimin is best known for his dancing, that could be because you are not well informed about how much Jimin is seen and respected as a singer.
Jimin is a technically very good singer with a very unique voice. It's not just me saying that but also vocal coaches, vocal trainers, producers, overall professionals in the music industry etc.
Of course you can have your own opinion on this topic DT, it's only that from my point of view your opinion on this topic could be influenced by the fact that your focus is more on Jimin's dancing than him as a singer and his skills in that area.
The way I see Jimin and through the things he has told us about himself, I think that he is someone who wants to influence and connect with people in a positive way.
I believe that when he gets older or his body just doesn't allow him to dance anymore, that he will then concentrate on how else he can bring his feelings, stories, perspectives towards life and his art to the people. He will find new ways to develope his art through singing and other things.
Jimin is not a dancer who happens to be also a singer, Jimin is someone who is an OUTSTANDING singer AND dancer through hard work and talent and is highly respected in both areas.

i think ON really represents bts, that song has it all. vocals, rap verses, high notes, difficult choreography, deep lyrics, is both Korean and English, catchy beat etc. On is so underrated and it sucks that it was released right after the pandemic started... i definitely have to see it live in person at least ONCE in my life lol. And yes what Namjoon said is true, most kpop idol groups have a contract for 7 years and that it. Not too long ago BTS extened their contract for another seven years (:

Dt I think all of 7 membres would sing for many years... your thoughts about Jimin"s voice contradicts the opinion of several professional coaches.. If you want pls watch "Vocal Coaches / Professionals Praising Jimin's Vocal" by Kook Min... I respect your opinion, but Jimin is also praised for his sweet and unique voice... They can sing whatever they want ...

the 7 year thing is true. most groups sign up to a 7 year contract and rarely are they renewed. bts obviously is super successful and wanted to keep going so they renewed their contract. and we're so glad they did :)

if i had to pick one song to describe bts Id say ON.
but of course theyre isnt one song that encapsulates bts as a whole. theyre just so diverse, trying out so many genres and mixing genres.
DT did you catch the part towards the beginning where he told them that bts arent kpop and that theyre much more than that now. i really appreciated him saying that. he also spoke korean to them to make them feel more comfortable even tho his interviews are supposed to be in english. just a great guy overall.
and Jinbo is a korean singer/rapper/producer. he has worked on several bts songs over the years and on CNS.

In my opinion, you can’t describe Bts’s style in one song. They are constantly changing the genres and styles. So not 1 specific song comes to mind in terms of representing them. But as RM mentioned, as of now they want dynamite and butter and PTD to represent who they are and as he said, people then get to know their other older songs after becoming their fans. And indeed butter and especially dynamite made many people who originally disliked kpop into Army. They are clearly very proud of dynamite that’s why they mention it all the time. It’s after all the best charting kpop song of all time and the best charting bts song(it’s huge numbers prove that). Butter is still newer and doing insane numbers and loved by so many and so is PTD which is increasing in popularity everyday💜

This really was a great interview. I love the fact that at times he spoke Korean with them . It seems to make them more comfortable. He needs to do all of the US interviews.
