BTS Interview on The Jimmy Fallon Show

Comments

I'm so excited for the new album to come out, it drops the day after my birthday! :)

Seth S

You said exactly what I wanted to say. They have always taken the Grammy's seriously. Army may not like the way Grammy's have done things but as long as the boys see it as important we will do whatever is in our power to help them get there.

Christina

In July this year, BigHit confirmed that RM, Suga, Hobi, Jimin & V have enrolled in Hanyang Cyber University's GRADUATE SCHOOL for an MBA in Advertising and Media. According to reports, the rapline started March last year while Jimin and V were expected to start in September 2020. Jin is also enrolled in the same university taking up his Master’s degree while Jungkook is completing his college degree in a different university.

luvpjm

I believe he found out about the term by reading the comments on his Jimin's legendary fancams reaction. :-D

Sonja

I really hope they win a Grammy this year this would make this year a whole lot more special😊

Tiffany Grays

I loved how the "Dance Your Feelings" showed the cultural differences especially in the battle between Jin vs. Jimmy. But I wish J-Hope and Jimin had gotten a better emotion than shy.

Queensthief

hahaahah they have expressed their feelings for the grammys since 2018. And they did get a nomination last year for the album cover for LY:tear . But they didn't win it but its okay! They didn't get nominated for the their Map Of The Soul ; Persona album eventhough it broke almost all the record there is and it sold 5+++mil last year. Grammys are the only award in US that does not do fan votes or anything and it is only voted by the recording academy members (which the boys are a part of YEAHHHH) Lol they even said that they will vote for themselves this year HHAHAHAHA SO FUNNY! As it is extremely hard for them to even be nominated properly because of the alienation and the xenophobia that ppl are still throwing at them in the US but we are quite hopeful this year because dynamite was a worldwide smash hit and they even sent MOTS7 for AOTY! And it is currently the first round voting for the grammys at this moment in time , so Columbia and BH and the boys are doing their best to be more visible and ARMYs are here helping the boys reach No 1 so they know BTS is not just a fad but a worldwide sensation! Suga recently said that they wanted to have a solo stage on the grammys (only those who are nominated for grammys will be able to perform that year) so they are hopeful since our results have been insane this year! But anyway , BTS dont really need one but they want one so what Yoongi wants, Yoongi gets. LOL! If you want the video of why bangtan deserves the grammys you can check this out by our lovely Brian Patrick Bryne : https://youtu.be/biD6tGUKP38

I loved the 'Dance Your Feelings' segment. So many funny moments, but the 2 that stood out were Hobi embracing his inner Charlie Chaplin for the coat caught in a car door, & Jin's Spinebreaker. Hilarious! 😆

Suga was actually a great student according to his teachers. He maintained good grades even though he was sleepy from secretly working part-time at the recording studio at night. He also never broke a single school rule and was very cooperative with teachers and classmates. This is all info that is in a korean tv documentary special on youtube about Suga's life in Daegu city. I also remember Suga himself saying somewhere that he was a school/class monitor (student that enforces the dress code, etc). As all ARMY probably know from Run BTS, both V and Jimin used to be class presidents/vice presidents/in student council throughout primary school. I think V and Suga were comparing their student life to Korean/Asian standards which are super high.

I can imagine that. For sure, girls were fawning over him and BTS though on graduation day (judging from the graduation bangtan bomb)

Pls, tell us where you learn the word jibooty🤪

Tiffany Jiaxin Huang

I'll always remember how tae would tell his friends and other classmates to be nice to jimin and include him into their conversations as jimin was someone who had trouble talking to strangers. :') Not to say jimin didn't have friends, it's just really sweet how he was looking out for him.

Cheyenne

Jungkook was surprisingly not popular at his high school. Like Patrícia said "he went to an arts school where a lot of trainees and idols were already attending as well" so he wasn't the only idol. Not only that, kook was very shy and quiet and generally kept to himself. He was known to sit in the corner and back of the classrooms and didn't attend school as often as the other students because of his hectic schedule. So when his graduation did happen, he didn't get a lot of cheers because no one really knew him that well.

Cheyenne

I hope BTS gets their own stage AND a Grammy this year. I feel they HAVE worked hard and deserve it.

Carlethia Street

BIG HIT just submitted Map of the Soul 7 for album of the year to the GRAMMYs. Let’s start collectively praying. I just came back from seeing Break the Silence movie. It was great. A lot more insight . I definitely recommend.

Bangtan Annie

Exactly. It can start to feel a little disheartening and discouraging, but we're not going to let personal feelings about the Grammy's as an entity stop us from trying to help them reach that milestone.

Hana Park

taehyung was very popular in school. everyone knew him & liked him.

Have you reacted to mikrokosmos yet? They performed it on jimmy fallon as well! It'd be nice if you watch a lyric video before watching the performance.. the lyrics are absolutely beautiful!

soo lee

18 year old Jimin was a valedictorian, 9 years of class president + vice president, top student in Math and Chemistry, 8 years of kendo, black belt in taekwondo, scholarship from china, a member of billiard and soccer club, majored in dance, learned hiphop, modern, contemporary, ballet, 🇰🇷cultural dance. Our talented Examplary student PARK JIMIN! 🎺🥳🎺

Naima

Yeah i think thats how you can say it!!

PIDDI

You explained this really well 👏 this is exactly what armys feel and even bts who have mentioned a few times now how they’ve been treated different/experienced xenophobia (although they don’t outright say the word it’s very apparent that’s exactly what they’re talking about) and don’t know if there’s a place for them in the western industry when they’ve done more than most western artists who are nominated and win... it’s disheartening and it makes me hate the Grammys but Yoongi wants it and what Yoongi wants Yoongi gets... this year is our biggest chance cause of dynamite being english but I think they might only be nominated...another dream of theirs is simply to have a solo performance at the Grammys so I really hope they can at least get that with dynamite... 🤞

M G

The thing about the Grammy's is that BTS were never NOT taking it seriously. They've talked about wanting a Grammy for years, and I doubt they were not trying their best to get there with every album they've put out. The difference THIS year is that they have an all English track, so there is a possibility that Grammy's MIGHT take THEM seriously this year. The Grammy's (and every other western award show) have a track record of racist and xenophobic practices that have held not only BTS back from receiving the recognition they deserve, but many other non western and poc artists. The issue the fandom has is with that. You can recognize the weight a grammy holds for an artist and simultaneously not support the awards practices. For instance the "pay to play" manner in which some artists find themselves nominated, the fact that poc artists often find themselves in sub-categories seemingly created only to segregate... for instance Tyler the Creator winning a Rap/Hip-Hop Category for a non Rap/Hip-Hop album or award shows creating Latin, K Pop, International categories to gatekeep the main categories. It's not as simple as BTS cares about winning a Grammy and the fans don't see the importance or relevance. Army would do literally anything to see BTS achieve everything they could dream of. I mean, thanks in large part to Army their sales, streaming, tour numbers, and the records they've broken in the US have made them more qualified to receive these awards than many western artist who've ended up nominated and winning. Unfortunately there comes a point where they (and we) can only do so much to gain western recognition when the industry and award shows themselves are actively trying to hold them back while giving the group crumbs in exchange for the clout that comes with having them perform a song (in the case of the Grammy's, part of someone else's song) or just simply give out an award.

Hana Park

Mr. DT I hope you will also react the BTS Summer and Winter package.. 💜

shimmer077

Oh about Jungkook..yes, he was probably popular but the thing is, the school he attended was an arts school wich a lot of idols and trainess went to mainly because they are more flexible regarding attendance so I thik it was common for the studens to have a famous classmate lol

sugaisagenius

I'm not sure about the term either, but I guess Suga was something like student council ...

sugaisagenius

The boys were playing it cool, but Suga and Jin were great students too. Jin was accepted with great grades at Konkuk University and it's said to be one of the best students even though he was so busy with BTS crazy schedules while attending classes. And he is currently pursuing a masters degree. There's an interview with the director of Suga's school in wich he says great things about him, plus he has mentioned he was (and still is) an avid reader

sugaisagenius

There was also another game segment,

Jill L

Jimmy is now calling himself Chimmy!

Jill L

I love how you pointed out how jimin literally showed off his jibooty for all of us :D "Shy" was definitely not the right term for him to dance to ;) oh and I completely agree, bts deserve a grammy, they deserve to set that new milestone in history and I'm just so damn proud of these angels for making it that far together :")

Rebekka

Jin's abs is trending LOL and he even said that he will never show his abs 🤣🤣

shimmer077

Yeah Jimin was for 9 years class president ( sometimes vice class president), Suga was ( i dont know how you say it in english cause i am german) someone who watched that the others follow the rules...like clothes, accessory, behaviour and so on...his teacher talked about him...maybe he doesnt had good grades because he was a little lazy but he was responsible

PIDDI

Thank u 😅
