Virgo had it a bit wrong Jody, naruto characters are moving as fast as it looks, but during the fights they have to slow things down because naruto takes pride in actually showing the choreography, but during the scenes when they are running you can see their true speed because there isn’t anything to really highlight if that makes sense.

Physical energy can be increased through training, stimulants, and exercise. Spiritual energy is derived from the mind's consciousness and can be increased through studying, meditation, and experience. So all of this training the characters are doing makes their bodies physical stronger, more durable, increases stamina, etc.
