Weekly Update - Feb 26th

A little late this week, oops! Been a busy one. 8 Simple Rules is now done and dusted - thank goodness. I had a lot of internal debate over the last few chapters because they were a lot shorter than the first few, but any time I tried to make them longer it just felt like I was writing the filler arc for a long-running anime (I totally haven't been rewatching Naruto, don't give me that look) so I decided to just screw it. The first few being longer was just a bonus, the later ones are the norm 👀 It's also my first week back at Uni for the semester so I'm preparing myself for a rough 12 weeks.

This week in WIPs:

This week was a weird one. I had a moment where I realised I had an idea for a fic, and I was super excited about this idea, only I had no idea what the idea actually was. I could feel the idea, but if someone had asked me "what's the plot?" I'd have had no answer for them. So instead I just... Started writing. Sometimes you've just gotta let your fingers do the work.

It's now at about 15k and maybe 2/3 done? I'm looking at it being 5 shortish chapters, maybe 4-5k each, and it's gonna be the first time I tag a fic as "angst" without adding "sort of? I guess?" after it. So you've been warned!

I really like it though, so hopefully you guys will too!!

Goal Updates:

8SR is going to be my March fic on Ao3, and the new WIP will be the first of my Patreon March fics. It may end up on Ao3 by the end of the month too, that really depends how much else I end up writing! I'm really hoping to start posting Incomplete; or Fork in the road on here by the end of March too, but it really depends if you guys mind the chapters being really spaced out ^^;

I try to have things 80%+ complete by the time I post them on Ao3, but I thought Patreon could be my "as it's written" source. This would mean you'd get chapters of different fics interspersed though rather than a whole fic at once? Otherwise I'll just keep doing what I did with 8SR and post one fic, but chapters at slightly irregular intervals.

That's all for this week, but if you guys have any thoughts on this stuff please do let me know, I'm still not sure what people prefer in terms of content consumption! I'm one of those weird people who doesn't read a fic until it's 100% posted so I really can't judge.

Song of the week: Temporary Bliss - The Cab (best listened to while reading the conclusion of 8SR)

Comments

Sounds good to me! I just feel bad if I post a chapter of something then abandon it for 6 months lol but I guess I can always link back to the previous one so it's not really a big deal? I'm trying to be good with my post tags on Patreon to keep things together. That was pretty much my intention, I don't expect patreon to be the main source of consumption for anyone because there's no real tagging system the way Ao3 has one, if you want to reread an older work I 100% advocate using Ao3 lol. As you can see though stuff generally comes out here much earlier because I'm not worried about regular schedules lol 👀 Also I love your blabbering, pls continue to blabber

Pps thanks for like, actually enjoying my blabbering 👌

I like to re-read stories too so I’m happy for random posts and then if / when I wanna read it completed I can view on ao3 so it’s still tidy somewhere ygm?

I’m super greedy so my vote is post chapters once they’re written and just bombard us with random stories and it’ll be like Christmas for me looool
